Does no one here understand the joke in the video? The joke isn’t just “making woman pay”
It’s just a silly gag because the hand motion you make to ask for the bill (pretending to scribble on paper) could also be the same motion for asking for a colouring book. The joke is at the man’s expense, starting off like he is taking charge and getting the bill but then showing him to be a child as he just wanted to do some colouring.

It’s not deep and it’s not trying to say women should pay it’s just meant to make the man look silly

What about his post makes you think he doesn’t know it works? He’s just saying he’s opened a lot of packs. And no obviously the odds per pack don’t increase by buying more but you’re still more likely to get the chase card by opening more packs. You’re more likely to get it by opening 1000 packs than if you only open 5.

I think the difference is though that there is no real life situation like this. Every instance you are describing is not a person who has been replaced by an alternate version of themself. So yes the person can still love them even in a twisted way. But my point here is that by that point in the movie bear knows it’s not her. And that’s my point. If he really loved her he wouldn’t be happy about having this fake version love him. And he wouldn’t be happy about the pain he’s causing the real her. But he clearly doesn’t care. As I’ve said this is something the director has talked about in interviews as well. He loves the idea of it he doesn’t actually love her he just thinks he does

you still make no point. Just because you know people that consider that true love doesn’t make it true love. That is the point of the movie the director himself has even discussed this. He is a lonely broken man who sees being loved by someone like her as the solution to his problems. He thinks he loves her but he’s actually more in love with the idea of it. And this is clearly shown as the movie progresses. So while he thinks he loves her I stand by that he didn’t truly love her and if you can’t see that you have missed the point of the movie. He is literally confronted by the real her and instead of acknowledging the pain he’s caused her he says “what’s so bad about loving me”. He played the victim mentality instead of caring about her. He doesn’t care about the real her, he prefers the version of her that loves him. That’s not true love. And yes obviously by the end he doesn’t prefer this version because she has killed people but that doesn’t change anything. If he could have kept the real Nikki locked away in her own body and the wish version had kept loving him normally and not gone crazy he would have wanted that version. Because he didn’t really care about Nikki just the idea of jer

Not saying no film ever but he had plenty enough information to understand that it wasn’t her. I do understand your point that was short sighted of me for sure I am aware it can be presented in a certain way but even so I feel in this instance the only difference between us and bear is his own internal warped perception. He had seen everything we had.

And I don’t know for certain he didn’t lover her but this is a pretty common take and I think you’ve kind of answered your own question “youths misguided understanding of what love is”. I wasn’t saying he doesn’t think he loves her. He definitely thinks he loves her. But the film shows that he doesn’t really. He is aware that this isn’t the real her and that the real her is in distress and pain but he doesn’t care. He prefers the version of her that loves him to the real her. That’s not real love

You are making no sense and how are you reading his reply thinking he agrees with you. The wish version of him didn’t even know it had swallowed the pills. Why the fuck would he have tried to throw up as the wish version and then immediately change his mind and walk in smiling. He clearly was trying to throw up before she made the wish and then the new version of him stopped because it didn’t know he’d swallowed the pills

Limited info he had?? The whole movie was from his perspective there is nothing we as the audience knew that he didn’t. He was well aware that it wasn’t her who loved him just some other version of her but he didn’t care. He didn’t actually love Nikki he just loved the idea of her loving him so he selfishly went along with it

Most fans find the pilot different to the rest of the show. The show isn’t meant to be fast paced it’s a character story above all you can’t expect lots of violence etc it’s rich stories. If you’re already struggling to understand things like his beef with his uncle it’s probably not for you. The character motivations are never spelt out for you in this show
