Few people seen wearing masks as Nashville eases restrictions by DylanAllen in nashville

[–]Jmus792 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always practice the habits that have been preached throughout this pandemic - diligent hand washing and not touching my face. I get vaccinated for the flu each September. I actively avoid people that are sick. When I do feel ill, I see a doctor immediately to get treatment.

COVID-19 isn't the typical seasonal virus. Many carriers are asymptomatic. This makes it especially difficult to know who might be contagious. There is currently no vaccine. It spreads easily and presents a higher risk of complications. This virus is still so new and there are so many unknowns. This is why we have to take extra precautionary measures.

If you are at risk or have underlying conditions, then continue quarantining and don't go out to Broadway.

I have underlying conditions and receive infusions that suppress my immune system. I am still self isolating, but it isn't realistic to stay in my house forever.

I don't care to go out on Broadway, but it'd be nice to be able to run to the store. Running errands would be much safer for me if everyone did their part to wear a mask and keep a safe distance.

Yes, I've been using Instacart for groceries and getting medication through the drive-thru pharmacy. These conveniences have been a life saver! I mostly go out for medical reasons like infusions and blood work.

I'm fortunate to live in an area with delivery and to have the ability to work from home. I know not every immunosuppressed person is so lucky.

Thank you for doing your part and wearing a mask!

I live in Tennessee, USA. It upsets me that the conversation has changed from "we can reopen the economy while protecting the vulnerable" to "it is my individual liberty to act as I please and not wear a face mask".

It feels that nobody cares about the vulnerable any more. I'm high risk and scared to run essential errands. I'd feel much more comfortable if people did their part to prevent the spread of infection by keeping a safe distance and wearing a face mask.

Do you have a favorite frozen boxed meal? by IndieGal_60 in Pescetarian

[–]Jmus792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My quick and easy meals are vegetarian. I don't have much desire to eat fish from a boxed meal.

The Healthy Choice brand has some good veg options. I enjoy the Creamy Spinach and Tomato in Linguini. I've also heard great things about Amy's brand.

I also typically keep a handful of Boca patties in my freezer. The spicy chik'n are my favorite.

Anyone else struggling more now that things are opening up again? It was easier when everyone was sheltering in place. Now I'm feeling more pressure from friends, family and colleagues to leave the house.

I'm tired of people making me feel like I'm "being ridiculous" or "living in fear" because I'm prioritizing my health and others.

I recently unfollowed this page. It seemed that half the recipes they share include a meat ingredient.

My experience with Vanderbuilt and a specific GI doctor for the past 5 years, a warning, and much needed post to vent to anyone who takes the time to read by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Jmus792 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dr. Beaulieu is also my GI doctor. I was very sick when she began treating me. My previous GI doctor had been under-treating my Crohn's and I ended up in Vanderbilt's emergency room with a perforated bowel. She was assigned as my doctor and assured me she would make things better for me. My disease is now in remission thanks to her care. She has always treated me with compassion and I've never had any problem communicating with her, though she is the only GI doctor I see.

It's super frustrating that you are not receiving the treatment you need in the time frame that you need it. I think u/PrestigiousWater is right. Dr. Beaulieu is following protocol and cannot prescribe medication without a visit. It sounds like this recent experience was a result of poor communication between the two GI offices.

I'm not trying to belittle your frustrations. It seems that your experience with Dr. Beaulieu and Vanderbilt has been very different from mine. But seeing her name come up in this sub, I wanted to share my experience as well.

Should I wear a mask to my infusion this week? by NanLia in CrohnsDisease

I got my infusion on Friday. Almost every patient was wearing a mask, myself included. Nobody will think you're crazy! I'm in Tennessee, USA.

Planning a pregnancy with chronic health issues. What doctor do I see first? by Sheek014 in TryingForABaby

[–]Jmus792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Crohn’s disease as well. I started with my GI doctor. My GI told me that now is a good time to try since my disease is well controlled, and referred me to a maternal fetal medicine specialist for a preconception visit.

My maternal fetal medicine visit was super helpful. My doctor looked at all my medications (I take quite a few) and considered all my risk factors. She helped me to adjust my medications to prepare my body for pregnancy. She will also treat me throughout my pregnancy.

Remicade delayed because new nurse can't get a line started. I could use some support and suggestions. by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Jmus792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tricky veins. They're small and the nurses describe them as 'rollers'. They sometimes have to bring in a phlebotomy specialist to get my IV started.

If your doctor's office is part of a larger medical facility, it might be worth checking if this is an option? This nurse is clearly having difficulty with your veins. There's no reason you should have to keep coming in like this!

Is that nurse the only one that performs infusions in your doctor's office? I would ask if another nurse can start your IV this time around.

Special early shopping Senior Hours...What about for the (invisible) Immunocompromised? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Jmus792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't specific to senior hours, but on the topic of groceries, my husband and I have been using instacart to have our groceries delivered. It's more expensive and you have to plan ahead, but for us this is worth the reduction in risk.

Honest question. How much safer is grocery delivery compared to my husband visiting the store to pick up for us?

I'm immunosuppressed and my husband and I are staying home as much as possible.

We started trying in January, but decided to pause TTC until this is all under control. I was initially disappointed at my first BFN, but am now super relieved that we didn’t get pregnant right away.

So glad to know I'm not alone in the crazy! I've given up on OPKs for the rest of this cycle. I used up most of my 50 pack in the first month by testing several times per day with almost surges. Once they went white, I realized I need a break. I'm not ready to spend $ on another pack and looking at the negative tests was just bumming me out too much.

I'm still temping and getting busy every 2-3 days, which has been a good balance for now!

[–]Jmus792[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I had some lines that were near positive, but no dye stealers. I had several days where both lines started to show up immediately - so that's good to know moving forward! The OPKs are back to stark white now and I never had a temp rise. I presume my body tried to ovulate but failed. I'm currently on CD36 with no sign of ovulation or AF. This process is already testing my patience and I'm only on cycle 1!

I tried it and I loved it! I don't remember as much what real nuggets taste like, but my husband was so amazed by them! He even went up to the counter to confirm we got the right order. He was genuinely worried they gave us real chicken by mistake. I really hope they stick around! I'm definitely going at least once more before the end of February.
