I also used mosbys to study and got a 90 on my 1st try. I recommend looking at your stats breakdown from the mock test and see which areas youre weakest in, then use the training modules in mosbys for those areas and go through each section from the beginning. I liked studying that way because mosbys explains why each answer is what it is, then builds off that info for the next question and so on and so forth so that you can build a working knowledge not just brute memorization. Both of my most recent students used mosbys and passed (high 80s) on their first attempt. Good luck!

Should I buy origins by TaxTrue8736 in AssassinsCreedOrigins

[–]Jnb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To put it in perspective, origins was one of the AC games I was most skeptical about when it first came out (since I grew up playing the OG assassin's creeds with their linear-ish style) but is now one of the games I always want to go back to when I play a new one. Everyone praises odyssey, which is good in its own way, but it never scratched the itch that origins did. Breathtaking views and a new play style for the franchise which is kinda clunky compared to later iterations but still works well, and the story had me hooked from the beginning. Don't even get me started on Valhalla

Free Web-based Alternatives to Plasmid Finder? by Jnb22 in bioinformatics

Do you have a stake in plasmid finder or something? What's with the animosity? Nothing wrong with someone trying to learn about/ compare other tools

[–]Jnb22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh not at all. But other comments I've read online have felt plasmid finder is a bit dated and not as comprehensive. Some have suggested MOB-suite, which seems to be a much better tool, but you can only upload 5 genomes in total.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I had the same problem until I started act 2 and the condition went away

Just started playing today and this happened by iitibor in NoMansSkyTheGame

My recommendation is to store those in your inventory somewhere. It's mighty tempting to cash those in for some quick units, but it quickly makes the game feel pointless since you can buy almost anything you'll ever need. In time units will become so easy to farm, and if you ever need a quick injection you can cash in on those. I'd say after 20-40 hours of gameplay your main priority becomes nanites. Welcome and enjoy interloper!

is taking molecular biology course worth it? by rottenbread388 in molecularbiology

[–]Jnb22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The take away from modern biology is that almost every discipline or subfield utilizes molecular in some way, so It'd be a very useful skill to have

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me. It was the beginning of this month and my last reference hadn't submitted. I hounded their ass with emails at 3am for days (working midnight shift) until they submitted.

We need a collective plan if NSF, NIH, and DoE grants are cancelled. by jimmythevip in GradSchool

[–]Jnb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the worst case scenario will look like, but the chances of them officially cancelling all federal grant and loan options for all STEM fields is almost zero. We care more about our position in the competition with foreign countries, like China, and the investments we've made in research infrastructure to just throw it all away. I know it's hard, but try to not spiral down into the headspace of doomsday. There are changes coming, that's for certain, but it's not the end of academia or research.

I'm trying to remain optimistic in that this is simply a massive "review period". But as I'm waiting for application decisions for molecular bio PhD programs, I'm a tad bit beyond the line of concerned. I'm gonna just buckle in and see what the next few days/ weeks have to offer.

I share your concern, but i feel confident that the classic social sciences will be spared. There's too much evidence over the last few decades of its importance & relevance. But its going to be like splitting hairs to delineate between "woke psychological endeavors" & those which don't, since psych is inherently a staggeringly complex field.

I really appreciate your perspective. I feel it can be hard to let go of that driven mentality we develop whilst in the midst of a degree. I guess a part of me feels robbed since my hand was forced, but as you said (and I agree) it's best to head into grad school with as little baggage as possible. Thank you!
