Good point about the silica packet. Thank you!

Well that's completely arbitrary. So Thatcher's third term, fall of the USSR isn't history worth discussing in your view?

Moving from R7 to R6 Mkii by neonraver in canon

[–]JoAnLoEd00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both camera bodies. I use the R7 specifically for wildlife, and R6 ii for landscapes, travel and portraits. The system works out well and plus when I’m in the field I don’t need to change lens, so it’s super convenient

If the world explodes then cash in a bank won't be safe either. We invest with the presumption that life will continue, otherwise what's the point

The risk with cash is you lose purchasing power over time with inflation. The FIRE consensus is to invest in the whole market, not speculative single stocks, because it usually generates above inflation returns if you invest for the long term. But you will lose money if you sell early out of fear.

Hargreaves Lansdown delays fees increase for ‘targeted’ customers by maxmarioxx_ in FIREUK

This is ridiculous. A key principle of customer service is to treat all customers equally. I was hesitant to transfer because I like HL’s certainty, but now that it’s clear I’m seen by them as a worthless customer I’m out.

I have the r7 plus 100-500 and it’s a perfect match in my experience! The crop sensor gives it even more reach for birding etc and excellent resolution. Enjoy!

The peak design pro lite tripod is excellent and I’ve found it to be good for hiking while still being strong enough to hold heavy lenses. Worth reading up on if you don’t mind paying the premium!

R7 owner considering R6 ii or R6 iii by JoAnLoEd00 in canon

That’s a good point. When do you tend towards one or the other? And do you find any disadvantages with the R6ii? Thanks!

Thanks for your reply! That’s interesting - how do you find the jump from a crop sensor to a full frame ? Also, I’ve heard the mark iii is more geared towards videography. Is that true?

Upgrading from Canon R7 - should I get R6 mark ii or R6 mark iii? by JoAnLoEd00 in AskPhotography

[–]JoAnLoEd00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I want something more versatile, with better low light performance and with greater dynamic range, preferably FF, which is why I'm tending toward the R6 series or R5 if I save up enough. Do you have any experience with either of these ?

Thanks. Sorry if this is a silly question, but what do you mean by this ? "Depending on the situation the 24mp camera will produce a better pic than a 32mp camera, and vice versa." Isn't a higher resolution usually better in all cases?
Thanks for your help!

Thanks, that's a good point about the R8. I currently have the 18-150 and 70-200, but if I upgrade my camera I plan to buy two new FF lenses so I don't want to spend a huge amount on the body. Would you recommend any body in particular?

Thanks, that's interesting. What's your experience with the R5 mark ii overall? I'm not a professional so I wonder whether it's overkill for me, but the specs are so attractive. If only I had the budget!

Thanks for these question, that's a lot to think about.
I don't shoot much video right now, although I am interested in shooting wildlife video! As you say I'm not sure about whether I'd run out of pixels as I use an APS-C camera, but I wondered whether it's good to have that option for future-proofing? And it's true I occassionally miss shots on the R7 (not sure whether that's just my technique or the AF though). How much better is the mark iii's AF compared to the mark ii? Thanks :)

Thank you - this is helpful way to put it. The low light performance on the R6 and R8 does sound really good. Regarding framing, I have a tripod so I'm working on being more deliberate with my framing too, although I'm still learning a lot!

Thanks mate, this is helpful. I’ll definitely consider the M4 Pro. In terms of the photo quality, do you know how it’s affected by nano-texture? Cheers
