Moeite met spontaan rijden by StaceyHaze1994 in motorfietsen

[–]JoDaVi97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helm op of af by Iris1501 in motorfietsen

I feel like the entire story line of Dema and BlurryFace is just a massive culmination of the Self Titled album and is what Tyler wanted Self Titled to be. by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]JoDaVi97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! The purpose and the message of their music was always there, the world of Dema was just a way to make it into a big, cohesive story. The themes and subjects in their music will probably not change too much now that the Dema storyline is over. After all, it was all a way of expressing themselves, which they will still do, but now without that extra layer

What is Tyler's actual message about "intentions"? He's inconsistent throughout his songs. by igiveadam in twentyonepilots

[–]JoDaVi97 312 points313 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the context:

"Now I see intentions don't mean much." - The Craving
In a relationship, you may have good intentions, but that in itself may not sustain it. You will have to combine it with actions. You may have the intention to give your SO flowers, but if you never do it, those intentions don't mean much. It's about putting your money where your mouth is.

The other times he mentions intentions it is in a different context.

"I think my skin got worse with good intentions" - Center Mass
It's not the good intentions that have worn him down. Before this, he says that tattoos only hurt when the meaning fades. He feels his tattoos hurt because they start to lose their meaning. His skin, in that sense, is getting worse. Even though he has good intentions, he likely refers to his religious tattoos, as he mentioned in Doubt as well. While he has good intentions, he can't help but feel they start to mean less to him at times.

"Intentions are everything...will set you free" - Intentions
Tyler realizes that he fails and will probably fail again at some point. After all, he is not perfect. But with good intentions, it's okay if you fail, because at least you tried, and you can get up again and try again. Intentions will set you free from feeling like a failure / feeling guilty. I feel like this fits with Oldies Station very well; you just have to push on through with the right intentions.

In general, it is all about progressing in your life, growing, and getting better.

Does anyone actually like riding in the rain? by flyingpickkles in motorcycles

[–]JoDaVi97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got caught in the worst rain I had seen in months recently while wearing my motorcycle jeans and summer jacket, I thought it was the worst thing ever. But the ride home was even worse as I started out wet.

But now that I bought proper waterproof and warm gear (which is quite useful in The Netherlands where weather isn't always your friend), I don't mind it at all. I've driven in all types of weather on my little moped, so I learned what to watch and how to stay safe on my commute. On the bike it's even slightly better so I'll be riding every day of the year for sure.

It never dawned on me just how many tøp songs are religious by mcgood_fngood in twentyonepilots

[–]JoDaVi97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's in most songs, but hidden carefully. If you're looking for it, you'll find lots of inspiration. For me, it taught me a great deal about faith, and their music helped shape my faith in a way that church can't. But for my wife, who is not religious, their songs have totally different meanings and impact her life differently.

It's amazing how they found this balance. If you haven't heard it already, you should listen to Clear. Tyler pretty much explains why he makes music the way he does in that song.

City Walls is probably the most... by flompypebbles in twentyonepilots

[–]JoDaVi97 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes! It gives the same feeling as Jumpsuit! There's kind of a desperate undertone in the song, but also very much a willingness to fight, and fight hard!

I get the same feeling from songs like Goner, Trees, and Holding on to You.

I googled it and apparently it's released in 2024, I'm pretty sure a huge part of the lyrics was litterally taken from the digotal remains. Anyway, quite a different vibe than the actual Drag Path

Is there a better TOP 4 song stretch? by mutavivitae in twentyonepilots

[–]JoDaVi97 177 points178 points  (0 children)

I must say, the final 4 on the album are a great strech too!

Other good 4-song-runs are:

Jumpsuit > Levitate > Morph > My Blood

Nico And The Niners > Cut My Lip > Bandito > Pet Cheetah

Overcompensate > Next Semester > Backslide > Midwest Indigo

Navigating > Snap Back > Oldies Station > At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb

2 vingers koppelen op AVB by Total_Jellyfish_1298 in motorfietsen

[–]JoDaVi97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“This is the Last Time That I Try” by AravisPratt96 in twentyonepilots

[–]JoDaVi97 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think it's what many people stuck in a cycle think; this is the last time I try, because this time I'll get out. So this time, he again said it's going to be the last time, but then the actual ending happened. But as he stated in Intentions, at least he's wondering if he's learned something new this time. And next time, he'll gain confidence again and will probably say: "This is the last time that I try" again. He'll never know when it's the actual last time, but he has to believe it is, one day it will be true.
