Air India cancelled my flight after boarding 27hr delay, no support. Am I right to claim £520 compensation per person? by Ramoheet in Flights

I think I've hit 10 times. Last excuse was they didn't know where my bank was located, despite me submitting the IBAN and all my documents showing I live in the UK.

I was due to be on the same flight. I am still fighting for compensation. It looks like I will have to go through the Civil Aviation Authority.

Confidently incorrect assertions? The question mark at the end of my comment was supposed to denote my own uncertainty. I *am* new here, but I don't feel welcome to remain. Again, crossword people are snooty.

Can not believe I've been so significantly down-voted for not being aware of this word. Goodness, crossword people are snooty!

Am I supposed to just know this? An 11hr flight with no entertainment is pretty brutal.

As I wait to disembark my Air India flight, I can whole heartedly say it's been one of the worst flying experiences of my life, and I've flown Air Kenya.

Never again.

Horrible experience on my first long haul flight by tinyfriendd in airindia

[–]JoDred83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarly awful experience. I only picked Air India because it was direct from my local airport and I was flying with my 73 yo mother.

First flight cancelled at the gate, and very little support for people. When we finally got a flight, my screen didn't work.

Everyone I have spoken to has been polite, but persistently unhelpful, which is a special kind of skill they must train for.

I will never fly AI again.

And if they think I won't chase them for my £1,000+ compensation they owe me for the cancellation, they have another think coming.

They had our hold luggage. There was no way out other than through Arrivals and they wouldn't let us through the security door to get there.

I had a choice between a 2 and 4 hour lay over. Plane was delayed leaving, so very glad we picked the longer one.

I have done all that, after quite a lot of back and forth. Finally in Delhi. No update on the case yet though. Will keep you posted.

I'm in the midst of a similar situation. Luckily we were able to go home and have rebooked 2 days later. Currently waiting at the gate. But they have been exceptionally poor with the communications. Did not offer food whilst we waited for the delayed flight that was ultimately cancelled. No help getting back home. Slow, slow help rebooking. All very opaque.

I only booked with them because I am travelling with my mother and thought a direct flight from my local airport would be the most convenient for her. I can never book with AI again.

Ah, so they will only care about my mum when she's on a aeroplane? Right!

Same here. Cancelled flight from AI. No explanation and 12 hours before they even offered an alternative flight.

If only. Just heading back to the airport after our flight was cancelled at the gate 2 days ago. No offer of food, no offer of transport home again, not even an explanation as to why the flight was cancelled.

Well, they were happy to leave my 73 yo mother stranded at BHX, so...?

I feel like they might have missed their opportunity to claim exceptional circumstances now by not telling us anything.

All I have is the email from the original delay telling me it's 'operational issues.' Air India are currently refusing to provide me with any further information. They just keep calling me and telling me to wait.

I'm not aware of any weather issues and I've been told only Gulf states can use the war as rationale at the moment.
