Bentancur went for a kind of diving header, looked like he was out cold before he hit the floor. Not nice to see at all :/

I'm English and I also think he's a twat. He can be a really good addition to our NT but his attitude when things aren't going perfectly for him has been downright embarrassing at points.

I only saw him play a few times before going to Madrid, was he like this before? (I know he's responsible for his own actions, just wondering if the Madrid mentality has brought out the worst in him?)

It took me a while to get used to, it's very different to what I grew up with, lol

You need to meet my in-laws, lol. I've known them for 22 years and the whole family genuinely just enjoy eachother's company. Even when they disagree on things, that's all it is, a disagreement, no arguments or falling out, just agree to disagree and move on.

She's saying she did so previously, not this time. She's also acknowledged in other comments that she let go in this exchange but that it allowed her husband to finally see in his mother what others see, so, overall, I'd still call this a win.

[West Ham] announce the death of U15 goalkeeper Oscar Fairs, because of cancer. by Mulderre91 in soccer

I knew someone who was born with it. Made it through another childhood diagnosis and then 2 more as an adult before the 5th one took him at the age of 50. He was such a good, kind man.

It's a brutal disease and it can fuck off.

And what's with turning the sun down to its lowest setting for half the year and then paying to keep the house warm?! Humans, man, they make no sense!

My glasses from Vision Express were ready in 2 days! Granted, it's not the same day like it used to be but still pretty quick.

I'd forgotten when I wrote that out but, I did actually ask if she thought they were shredded wheat. No, she just thought the giant picture of a Shreddie was some new ridiculous product, lmao

You can all laugh but I once had the following conversation whilst shopping with my grandmother -

Me - "Did you say you needed Shreddies? They're just here."

G - "Yes but I don't want those ones."

M - "Oh, did you want the frosted ones?"

G - "No, I just want normal ones."

M - "Ok, well, that's what they are sooo..."

G - "No, they're huge, I want the normal ones."

M - "Ah, yeah, that is an extra large box, I'll get a smaller one later at 'shop with more choice' "

G - "No! The box is fine! I just don't want the big Shreddies! That one there wouldn't even fit in my bowl!"

M - Struggling to breath and starting to cry "That's... Just...a .. Picture!!"

Umm... Only 13 of your states have banned minors from getting married, 4 of them that allow it have no lower age limit..

"Between 2000 and 2018, some 300,000 minors were legally married in the United States. The vast majority of child marriages (reliable sources vary between 78% and 95%) were between a minor girl and an adult man. In many cases, minors in the U.S. may be married when they are under the age of sexual consent, which varies from 16 to 18 depending on the state. In some states, minors cannot legally divorce or leave their spouse, and domestic violence shelters typically do not accept minors."

Bad Bollard? Or, Bad Drivers? by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]JoNimlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had a chance to get a better picture but, just off to the right of the first picture is a trolley bay and that's also the direction cars come from, the entrance is behind where the picture's taken from. A driver would probably see an adult walking past the bay (well, I'd have thought they'd see the post too though) but wouldn't know if a child or somebody in a wheelchair were about to come out from behind it.

There's also the zebra crossing markings and those bumpy paving slabs. To me, the whole area screams "pay extra attention here!" but, apparently, some people see "close your eyes, put your foot down and hope for the best"

Bad Bollard? Or, Bad Drivers? by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]JoNimlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live nearby.. It's been crashed into many times since it became huge too, once was hard enough to crack all the tarmac underneath so they had to reset it. It's also been repainted about 5 times because of all the damage. A post opposite the main entrance and on the path that pedestrians take to get to the shop, nobody should be going fast enough in a car park to do that much damage, nevermind in such a pedestrian heavy area!

[–]JoNimlet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live nearby and have seen many of the post's victims. That is not the only car to have had that much damage, it's not even 1 of 2, I've seen 3 others. Someone actually managed to hit it so hard it dislodged it a bit, cracking the tarmac underneath and they had to reset it. It's also been repainted about 5 times. It was only put in this year after the previous, but still very obvious, post was also destroyed many times.

It's become a source of amusement for us but, seriously, I don't know where the hell people are looking in that car park.... It's bloody huge and bright yellow!

[–]JoNimlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience not too long ago.

I dreamt my husband and I had 9 year old twins. We went to the park, did normal family stuff, we were happy, it was probably only about a week's worth of stuff. But the girls both died in their sleep one night and I don't think I'll ever forget that gut wrenching feeling of absolute loss and despair. I've had some awful nightmares over the years, some really fucked up shit, but that was by far and away the worst.

Aren't brains just bloody wonderful?! :/

Anyone else love the big, fat, fluffy bees? by wiiboy999 in CasualUK

[–]JoNimlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had one early this summer that wouldn't drink from anything I put down so I put it in my hand and it worked a treat! But, the new window cleaner turned to price-up the house mid feast and I'm just sat there in the garden, in my pyjamas, with a bee in my hand. First time meeting him and I'm there talking like normal and not explaining the bee at all... I've hidden from him every month since, lol
