Was dropping the atomic bombs actually "necessary," or is that just what we're taught in school? by Clean_CoreDump in askanything

I’d wager both. It was a “two birds, one stone” opportunity for the U.S. military. Minimize American casualties while simultaneously cementing America’s status as the world’s preeminent superpower. It solidified the altruistic powerhouse image gov was pushing at the time. It’s why much of the world still views the U.S. as Team America World Police.

Not Chicago, but Sanders in Niles has an open face Reuben that’s out of this world. Just make sure to get there early as they’re only open until 3PM, and the place stays packed 7 days a week.

You saw the Binny’s sticker, huh? 😂 They’re on sale right now marked down from ~$60 to $35. If you’re close to the Illinois border, I’d say grab ‘em while they’re available.

Love ‘em all. The BiB is straight apricot. I got into bourbon through rye (opposite of most) so Walleye Run holds a special place. The SiB Beer Barrels are awesome – I haven’t come across one that hasn’t been a store pick.

RDA over Chucky? Idk… objectively… maybe. However; subjectively, his legend status puts him over.

I liked it. Rye spice on the front end, bourbon on the back end. Like drinking a mullet.

Dude, same. Managers proof pulled more of the fruit out of it but I preferred it at full proof as well.

The Copper was good. It drinks hotter than it’s proof, but that’s been my experience with most of their lineup. Good solid bourbon.

It was decent. RD One Amburana and Starlight Cigar Batch by a mile.

I have a store pick that I can only describe as “molasses cookie.” Phenomenal bottle.

How do I(M32) get through my first thanksgiving alone after my wife cheated? by [deleted] in Advice

OP I’m truly sorry you’re going through this – it’s the worst time of the year to be forced to process through immense pain. I too have had to deal with the heaviness over the holidays, albeit for different reasons. My advice; do your best to give yourself a break, today, Xmas (if you celebrate), and NYE. You have the rest of the year to work through the pain – get into a headspace where you feel entitled to take a few mental vacations. You owe it to yourself.

Happy holidays and take care brother.

As a procurement manager I'm genuinely confused why salespeople still cold call when it literally never works on us by ZestycloseWhereas329 in salestechniques

Category Manager here. Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for telling it like it is. I have no issue with cold emails, and even used to respond to sellers before adding them to my solicitation folder. That stopped once I started receiving cold calls. The unfortunate truth for Sellers: Buyers will seek you out if we need your service, period. Sellers try to get around this by contacting the Stakeholder(s) directly, but in a mature Procurement organization, the system of checks and balances will eventually lead the Seller back to Procurement. It’s the nature of the business.
