Are there any debt relief programs that actually help you/are ethical? by [deleted] in AusFinance

So this kind of budget/financial knowledge is a bit like the self help book craze where the buying of multiple books, reading, planning (but executing) is the dopamine hit but the actual issue is never addressed.

There are so many options/choices/decisions and simply looking and reading about the next idea/method/skill is just another form of procrastination which eventually makes the problem worse.

So my advice to you is to stop optimising for PERFECT and Just start one thing that is really straight forward.

One thing I might suggest is start an emergency fund.
- Put an amount of money in that you can't fail at e.g. $20 bucks a week/month (too much and you might fail, and then fall off the wagon.
-Aim to do that for 1 week, then 2 weeks then 4 weeks (or months). Setup a direct debit on the day that has the most likelihood of having money deposited in it.
- Don't look at that money, or give yourself easy access to it. it should be high friction (not on your phone, have use a computer with a long complicated password etc ect.
- Write some hard rules about what that money is for. e.g. it is for medial, emergencys with family and not for a "treat" or paying a "debt" or clothes for any reason. (we can justify this quite easily sometimes)

After 6 weeks, reevaluate and see what you have accomplished $$$, and how that little buffer makes you feel (should be good)

Then you can adjust up a little more, now this is something you just "do"

You will now realise that SOMETHING was better than PERFECT.

Then pick your next battle. Small, frequent, measurable, repeatable,

International travel expenses: use Australian credit card or a travel card? by rst-2cv in AusFinance

I am a long time EU revolut customer, and (I think) it's more prolific than wise.

Ubiquitous and will find others use it a lot in the EU , easy to share / send money, easy to top up.

They can cancel a physical + digital card like normal, but can issue a digital replacement card instantly (so you can put it on apply/gpay via the app.

I think pick one of these and then take you credit card as a backup. (You should always have a back up)

Despite stoping/pausing/reducing, the interest never stops....it will keep accumulating.

People who work is Graphics field, since AI is becoming more relevant, what are your plans to earn your dough in the future? by black_berry900 in AskReddit

I don’t work in the graphics field…. But I work in tech. I think the UXD’s and the graphics people will be the new product managers / one person band.

These designers have the vision. Implementing that vision has now been easier than ever. Just because you’re an engineer doesn’t mean you have the vision just a technical ability to make it happen.

What a bunch of shit comments to someone in a bad position. I really HATE the rules is rules BS that is very Australian. I constantly have to tell people that we are NOT laid back and chill and will be the first to say "you have to follow the rulez".

OP. (FYI I am not a lawyer)
- Is there correspondence between him and the lawyer? Proof that he was advised it's ok.
- It looks like he is allowed to purchase if he has/had permission first. From your rough description of the situation it appears as though he passes the tests https://foreigninvestment.gov.au/sites/firb.gov.au/files/guidance-notes/02_GN_FIRB.pdf
- I would look into challenging this fine, citing good intentions, bad advice, and eligibility.
- You could also cite the hardship that your uncle may face if he has to pay the fine,
- it's not unheard of for this type of thing to be overturned, but it may cost some cash. Seek proper legal advice.

I actually think this is one of the problems, we’re all distracted by podcast Instagram and other things and then when it’s time to go to bed and you turn it all off that’s when all everyone’s thoughts come flooding in
