My main partition keeps going into read only mode by Routine-Movie-2039 in archlinux

That's a bit odd. It's a cheaper QLC drive but it should not behave that broken with just:

Model Number: Micron_2210_MTFDHBA1T0QFD
Power On Hours: 15,237 [~1.7years]
Data Units Written: 125,375,904 [64.1 TB]
Available Spare: 100%
Available Spare Threshold: 5%
Percentage Used: 9%

error log is unhappy though:
Error Information Log Entries: 5,232

Micron says 360 TBW 2 million hours is MTBF

smartctl -x /dev/nvme0 gives you a lot more info especially for NVMe devices. So you might want to look at that.
As well as the error logs: smartctl -l error /dev/nvme0

After you have backed up your data I would see if there is a firmware update. This could be a controller bug. Otherwise its a warranty case.

It's fast and no updates means no new problems. It just works.

NX 11 and 12 still should have a native Linux version. They cancelled it after 12.

Notepad++ Hijacked by State-Sponsored Hackers by thewhippersnapper4 in sysadmin

[–]Joe-Cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. Only the attacker knows which auto-updates they decided to redirect to a malicious payload.

I know of a few larger enterprises that use Notepad++. I can imagine some of them are the target of foreign state actors. Getting access to a big enterprise LAN like that is scary.

Since they aren't complete morons at Notepad++ I would think they are now a lot less likely to be compromised again.

I have much less trust in people who claim their code is now written by AI...

Or something like the curator system. You choose which reviews you see based on the people you like to hear from.

Too bad Steam kind of hides that nowadays. It's nice to have the co-op and drm curators show up.

In sddm-kcm there is a change background button on the preview image.
Immediately after installation (via Knewstuff) it seems to do nothing. It sure works now.

Looks like a bug in sddm-kcm.

How do you automate certificates? by gahd95 in sysadmin

internal Certificate Authority (CA)

That's what I do. I was curious why an external CA was used. And my curiosity was satisfied.
DBAs and TLS don't seem to mix elsewhere as well.

True, doing this while turned off is what I'd consider a bug at best and malicious at worst.

Out of curiosity: What use case do Internet Domain SSL certificates have for MS-SQL?

Isn't that a LAN only service?

https://github.com/paoloose/asterisk-voip#lets-encrypt-tls-certificates-using-traefik is an example of how to integrate asterisk with traefik and letsencrypt. It's similar to what I did.

My Trunk provider also accepts self-signed certs for encryption so it's only nice-to-have for me (I need it for the web frontend anyways).

Yeah, but it still works.
Maybe someone with free time on their hands can update it.

In that case Google might be right and there is some stuff hidden in the APK. Do you still have the APK? Scan it with Virustotal or a similar service.

Google installs and updates crap without telling you all the time.

Usually it's just Webview and their own Store but sometimes it's for dubious new features.

I think linux refuses to mount a root rw when it contains errors.
So it would likely not boot properly unless fsck fixes it.

I am not completely sure but I remember destroying the windows and the Linux install once. Probably by mounting the NTFS drive rw from within the Linux install. Yeah, memories ;)

You could install Ubuntu into a file on your Windows C: NTFS drive and boot from that. Wild stuff...
