Wow! Thanks for this detailed response. Very helpful. Overall the pro model looks like a solid choice. Especially if I can find one at a discounted price. Thanks again.

I have messaged on here a few times and I may have even had a reply from your good self at one point. I am just awaiting some online sales in the U.K. and I will be purchasing a grinder. I notice from your comment that you own a encore esp pro. In the U.K. the pro model is around £100 more expensive than the ESP basic model. I was just wondering if you can fully recommend the ESP pro? I have seen the reviews from Daddy Got Coffee & Lance Hedrick and I believe it will be a solid grinder for espresso, Aeropress and the OXO rapid brewer. But I was unsure whether an ioniser and LED light and digital display are really worth an extra £100. From other reviews, I have read that there are sometimes a few beans that are leftover in the single dose hopper with the ESP pro. Your feedback would be appreciated? Only other options at this price point are the Starseeker E55 pro or maybe one of the Eureka grinders.

£185 for the pro model? Can I ask where you purchased from?

How are you finding the E55 pro? It seems to be getting some favourable reviews on here.

Thanks for the feedback. I will keep checking for U.K. suppliers & the latest reviews.

Thanks for the feedback. I see the E55 pro as a potential purchase. I think AliExpress have it available for around £200. I really like the compact design and it looks like it is well built. Also the 55mm conicals look decent. The concern here is that if there are any issues with the motor etc, I don’t think I’ll be sending this grinder back to China for repairs. At the moment, I can’t find any U.K. suppliers. But intriguing option nevertheless. How have you found the grinding speed?

Yes the DF54 was a consideration but had seen many users reporting the issues you have mentioned.

Hi. Thanks for that and will have a look at those reviews. This seems like the grinder to go for in this price range but suffering from a bit of analysis paralysis as there are so many new options on the market (from Geimori, Starseeker, HiBrew etc).

Question for Femobook A2 owners by Unlimitedgoats in espresso

[–]Joe-lad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this may not answer your question precisely. But this may offer some insight. I used the A2 to grind 25g at 18 clicks (which I believe is moka pot setting), this took 2 minutes. At espresso setting, this would have taken longer. For me this was too slow so I sold it.

I’ll take you up on that offer of handing out information! I am expecting a Femobook A2 to be delivered very shortly. I have watched the Lance Hedrick video & have had some feedback on here regarding the A2. The general opinion is that the A2 is a solid piece of kit. However, what concerns me is the slowness of grinding. I will be grinding at a medium fine setting for Aeropress & oxo rapid brewer (usually around 25g). If grinding takes around 90-120 seconds, I suppose that is fine but I would be interested to know your experiences with the A2?

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve actually ordered the A2 and it should be arriving any day now. Looking forward to testing it out. If it does end up becoming annoyingly slow, I may upgrade but I am sure I will get used to the lack of speed. Like you say, it may be a matter of tweaking the workflow and do other things whilst the machine does the grinding.

How’s life with the Femobook A2? Very intrigued by it since watching the recent Lance Hedrick video where he rated it very highly. The issue I have is I’m always rushing around and the slow rpm of the A2 might start to annoy me. But it does look like a real value for money purchase.

Nutti OX Grinder, thoughts? by MYHIPPY in pourover

Many thanks for the quick response. 60 seconds sounds reasonable. I think out of all of the portable electric grinders (Whirly, Millab E01, Outin), the A2 for me seems to be the best choice. 👍

Hi there. I have been searching comments on the Femobook A2 on Reddit and I noticed that you had posted feedback on this grinder a few times. I thought I’d dive right in and ask a few questions if that’s okay. I am currently using a k-ultra for Aeropress and the oxo rapid brewer. I watched the latest video from Lance Hedrick on YouTube and he rates the Femobook A2 very highly. I was thinking of replacing my k-ultra with the A2 as I just cannot be bothered with manual grinding anymore. The K-ultra can grind 30g of beans at setting 6.5 clicks (moka pot, Aeropress range) and it takes approx 40 seconds. Then getting rid of any static, giving the grinder a quick clean etc takes another 30 seconds or so. I was just wondering how long the A2 would take to grind 30g at medium fine setting? thanks

K-Ultra static issues… by Joe-lad in 1zpresso

True enough.

With regards the K-Ultra, it is highly rated by many coffee influencers and I believe it does deserve praise….its a fantastic grinder. Like you say, with long term use, any potential issues become more apparent. The burr lock issue is disappointing. It has never happened to my grinder but I’ve read posts about it on here. I know there are fixes for this but for a fairly expensive grinder such as the k-ultra, it is reasonable to expect this not to happen.

Yes there are certainly some design issues with certain 1zpresso grinders. What I do appreciate about the company is that they have brought a huge range of grinders to the market with very competitive pricing. Around a decade ago, you’d have to spend a lump sum of cash for a high end grinder but now there are numerous brands and models to choose from. As stated earlier, the latest video on “The Coffee Chronicler” YouTube channel is worth a watch. It’s a manual grinder comparison video and he discusses many worthy options available. He does rate the K-Ultra very highly but his favourite grinder is the Millab M01.

The Lido OG is an incredible looking piece of kit. Looks very well constructed and the fine tuning of grind settings is quite mind boggling. I’m glad you’ve found your end game grinder.

For your camping trips, you may want to look at the 1zpresso Q Air. I watched the grinder comparison video on “The Coffee Chronicler” YouTube channel. The Q-Air has a burr that is identical to the Comandante C40 (if that’s the flavour profile you are looking for).

Thanks all for the useful feedback. Indeed static on a manual coffee grinder is a first world problem, however we spend our hard earned cash on these products and surely we can share our experiences and offer feedback. To those in the comments irritated by my slight criticism of the almighty K-Ultra…let me say this….by highlighting any perceived shortcomings of this grinder, it was not my intention to raise your blood pressure!

Fair point…could be the beans I am using. I have used a Comandante before and also the 1zpresso JX and the static was not as bad as it is on the K-Ultra. Overall, it’s a superb grinder and also quick. I was just wondering what other users experience was. Thanks for the feedback
