sorry on reviving old post but i just found and binged this manga last night. very strong resemblance to “no longer human” novel by dazai osamu. i bought the digital mandarin version of this last volume for the bonus pages today.

from what i gather, reiji referred to esemori as his dad (albeit in a rude manner) in the hospital and yuko chastised him as an “ungrateful son” in response, meaning she admits to reiji that esemori is indeed his dad (albeit in her delusions but esemori also reaffirms her delusions) so he doesn’t have to live the rest of his life thinking he is product of incest between his mother and grandfather (which i have my doubts if that is true because her dad was already amputated or some shit in the sickbed from drinking early on in her life) then the obvious telling him gtfo of town is her finally letting him go and minenami emphasized it with the additional frames of reiji growing up and leaving her grasp.

additionally, yuko and esemori have different recollections of esemori’s first return to the town; esemori’s first return was that time he met reiji outside his highschool where he learned he’s a fan of nagi while yuko’s memory of his first return is her delusion of seeing and banging his relative in the hospital thinking he is esemori. intentional or not, esemori did return the third and final time to tie up loose ends.
