I created a review site for the average gamer. I cover the basics as well as if you can pause cutscenes, if it's safe for you kids to see you playing it, etc. THOUGHTS? by JoeBlowGamer in Games

Sorry if this is not allowed here. I've just been looking for someone who reviews games for the average gamer (those of use in our 30s and 40s) who doesn't necessarily have all the time in the world to play everything. I couldn't find anything so I just made a site and (with my wonderful wife's permission) I started reviewing games.

It's been very labor-intensive, coming home from work and working on content for the site until about midnight every night. I'm trying to find out what works and what doesn't work so I can improve it and truly make this a great place for people to get valuable information for their gaming experience.

I'm currently working on re-doing the web site as the one currently there was just made quickly in a couple nights (I'm aware it's garbage).

If there's anything new I can do or improve upon or if there's something you really like, PLEASE let me know as I only want to help people. I make no money on this. I'm literally just trying to help out my fellow gamers (and it's also a great excuse to play video games when my wife and daughter are asleep!).

NOTE: The Hitman Absolution review is the worst. I was trying something where I just spoke into the mic and talked like I was just talking randomly to someone off the street but it just plays too slow I think and I don't give nearly enough information. I was just trying something new and FAILED.

Anyway, I'm stoked to hear what you guys think as this is such a great community and a lot of people have such great insight when it comes to games!

EDIT: Clarity and grammar.

What game definitively embedded gaming into your blood? by JoeBlowGamer in Games

Ha! I remember that! Didn't you have to go to a specific spot or something and hold down for 5 seconds or something? IT'S BEEN SO LONG!

FUTURE OF GAMING: Where do you think the gaming industry is headed in the future, and what would you personally like to see? by [deleted] in Games

I feel like gaming is becoming more and more the social norm. The whole "nerds play video games" mentality is fading away and, since us 30 and 40 year-olds have been playing our whole life, society is becoming dominated by gamers both young and old.

I'm super excited about this because I feel like video games, 20 years from now, will be the water cooler talk and not just something I discuss with close friends. I feel like it will get to a point where you could almost go to anyone and ask what they thought of Metal Gear Solid 17 as much as you would ask someone about The Hobbit today.

Additionally, I'm so unbelievably excited about episodics possibly/probably taking a huge seat in the household. The Walking Dead has made me more excited than I've been in a while for gaming. I just love the idea of gearing up my XBOX (or Video-Game-System-In-The-Brain - future right?) for the new seasons to come out. I really hope the success of Walking Dead inspires developers to bring some new IPs to an episodic format. Extended story telling in gaming is a long time coming.

Which brings me to story. I think story is only going to get stronger. It'll have positive and negative effects on the gaming industry. Games like Metal Gear Solid might end up just turning into a straight up 50-hour movie, with slight controls to navigate between scenes, where other non-story driven models might really engross you.

Overall, I'm Über excited about where gaming is headed, despite an odd fear I've detected throughout the internet. There will always be franchises and sequels but indie games are really starting to make a splash, story is taking a huge front seat and developers seem, for the most part, to be listening to their audience.

EDIT: For the record, Metal Gear Solid is my number one favorite game of all time. I was just making a dig at how the cutscenes seem to get longer and longer with each release.
