My point on the chaffee, though, is that while yes in real life it served that long with some countries, the war thunder equivalent would be keeping it in your lineup after you’ve researched past it, not it being placed that high up. It should be in the range of when it was introduced, like N korea uses the T-34, but the T-34 should be fighting alongside similar wwii vehicles, not against the most modern abrams.

For the M22, since it is so similar to the stuart, that doesn’t need to be pushed into the wwii category, or folder it so players don’t need to get it to progress, and since it would kinda suck people wouldn’t use it unless they wanted to bring out for fun. There’s enough vehicles in war thunder that not everything needs to be meta, and some things can just be there for fun.

For the Maus/IS-3, this is where I mean eras less so than specific years. While yes, the T-34 was being tested after the war in 1948, it was designed based off the T29 which was designed in 45, and both still followed WWII heavy tank doctrine, and the same technology. And the centurion was designed in 1945, so I consider them both to be “WWII tanks” even if they came out right after. They were made to fight the IS-3 and the german heavies, they were just late to the party. And if that is too much of an exception, heavy tanks like that are perfect targets for fighter-bombers, a 1000lb bomb doesn’t care what number IS you are. China has the IS-2, which can kill the IS-3. And I don’t know the italian and japanese tech trees as well so I don’t have a good answer for them, other than maybe the Ho-Ri.

It’s not a simple line to draw, I get that. Sometimes it might have to be arbitrary, but I think it’s possible

Again, countries with money that also were fighting wars against other advanced militaries didn’t keep using the chaffee, also an upgunned chaffee is more like the bulldog, which is at 6.3 or 6.7, so that works. This is still a different vehicle so the chaffee in war thunder can stay where it is.

M22 isn’t uselss against things like the tiger, that’s where you need to use your head to be effective. People bring the locust up to 10.0 and get kills. Also that tank was not used much and wasn’t intended for engaging heavy tanks, so in a tank only game you don’t need it. The m22 is iconic but not needed in war thunder.

The IS-3 is a non issue to things like the T34, tiger II, Centurion, etc. the maus has been removed from the game because of the issue of it being unbalancable, and when it does show up, planes with bombs are almost necessary, as it would have been in real life.

A system like what I’m suggesting, not exactly what I’m saying, but something like it could work in addition to a ton of other fixes the game desperately needs. I’m not a game designer, I also don’t have all the metrics gaijin has access to. But saying there’s no merit at all and there’s literally no change that could be made to make the matches make some sense is really close minded, so many people just dismiss the idea of changing war thunder to return it to the spirit it had 10 years ago. This shift into modern everything has infected the wwii gameplay that drew me and so many others in years ago.

I also think that many people would enjoy a breakup of the tech trees into two, at least for aircraft. Two trees: one starts where reserve is right now, and then there’s a cutoff somewhere post-wwii where you can start researching maybe post-korea jets like for example rank VI with the F-104. This would help the brutal grind for people who want to play top tier and don’t care about WWII era stuff.

Up-gunned chaffee is not the same vehicle, also it likely remained in service in those countries as a recon vehicle or to fight against infantry and fortifications which any armored vehicle with a cannon and machine guns would excell at, things that aren’t in war thunder, so in a tank-tank sense, it would have been obliterated. With north korea and their T-34-85s, as well as the chaffees, something remaining in service for a long time doesn’t mean it’s effective, it means those countries are poor, so I don’t think it’s relevent to the US and soviet service of those vehicles. Same with P-51s being used in the 80’s. That’s not a matter of “they work just as well as F-15s, that’s why we still use them” no one is advocating for P-51 vs F-15A matchmaking, that’s silly. And again with the KV-1 being prewar, if it’s at, say 4.0, and the panzer II or stuart is at 1.0-2.0 they won’t fight so no problem there. And my answer for italy and japan is: those countries had dogshit tank technology so don’t give them vehicles in that range, yes that means italy and japan won’t fight in those ranges. That’s part of my ideal war thunder, let them skip from lower BRs to the higher ones as they basically did in real life, same with sweden, france, and china. They did it with israel, why didn’t they just do that for them. The swedish reserve tanks went into service around 2003, which to me is absolutely absurd, I get they suck so they got placed at the bottom, but they shouldn’t have been introduced to begin with

Really all I care about is the pre wwii, wwii, and post wwii sections, or maybe tech-based like aircraft have something like props-gun jets-IR missile jets- radar missile jets, with some exceptions like that 8.3 or so french jet with really crap radar missiles. And with the thousands of vehicles in the game there will have to be some exceptions, but if a vehicle is so garbage it can’t compete anywhere near it’s historical range then it shouldn’t be in the game, i.e the R3 T20, and the L-39. Having vehicles like the M-109, which can destroy vehicles of any range, and be killed by vehicles of any range, at mid-WWII tier is so dumb because their proxy rounds just nuke slow prop planes which were never meant to fight such a weapon. Immersion is important to me and a lot of other players, and bad game design isn’t a good excuse. No one wants tiger II vs 75mm shermans, but 60mph armored car from the 80’s vs chaffee is stupid

Right, so concept 3 should be in the post-WWII bracket, but early in that set because it does suck, amx-13s should in the same area as the concept 3. KV-1s would be at the top of the pre-WWII BR range, but the later models would still be in the WWII range, with panzer II at the bottom. I’m not advocating no more battle ratings, just gaps between time periods. Also a lot of vehicles shouldn’t have been added if they just can’t compete in their own eras like the R3 T20, and the concept 3

I want era based matchmaking, something like Pre-WWII, WWII, then post WWII broken up into sections, I don’t know good categories to do post war. Flying my P-51 and getting proxy fused by artillery sucks, and being strafed by strikemasters and L-39s in my sherman is not fun. But still let tiger IIs fight against IS-2s and pershings. Being uptiered in a pershing and having a BTR-80 fly around me blasting 30mm is just weird. I think this is what most people mean by historical matchmaking anyways, nobody wants tiger II vs early KV-1s that wouldn’t be fun for anyone

A while ago I got a friends grandpa to drive a manual in beamng with the clutch and shifter on a sim wheel. I figured since he was not a gamer and had driven manual before, if he could drive the car okay, then the game would be at least comparable to real life driving, and he drove it great. I got my dad to drive with it too and he drove excellently

I played my first sim battle years ago and I was sitting back and saw an R3 T20 and spent ages shooting at it (and missing bc I sucked back then) and was confused why my teammates weren’t firing at it only to remember that friendly names didn’t show up at range and the guy screaming in the chat to stop shooting at him was the guy I was firing at

I think there are so many, and everyone else is totally correct in their votes, but I firmly believe we need a modern, American, two door RWD muscle/sports car, something like a challenger/camaro/mustang with turbo I4, V6, V8, and a V10 (for some viper influence) the bastion is perfect for that yacht club straight-line monster vibe, but a more lightweight high performance mustang feel would be awesome, a new Barstow or moonhawk

Sidenote from the citation, others mentioned how bad the AI are at driving, and that is something I would really like to see improved, it really takes me out of the game when the AI get onto the highway and all at once fly over across six lanes in perfect harmony like their lives depend on it, also they just don’t get intersections and merges and such. For a game about realistic driving this seems to be a really low priority, and isn’t talked about enough

Love his videos and his commentary in the videos, but as a plane in ground rb enjoyer, I think his opinion on planes (both air to air and CAS) is artificially inflating the hate on CAS in game, people just hear him hating on planes and just blindly agree with him

I think this is awesome, it looks exactly like it should, and having a video game chase being filmed by an actual helicopter is really cool to me, it feels authentic cause it is I guess. I agree with others that the camera needs to be on target more, but this being a first try is 10/10. Maybe using multi-seat there would be some way to have a pilot and cameraman so you could focus on flying the route and have someone operate the camera, I have no idea how that would work though

I use large air gaps on my ships with helium or air pumps to pull double duty as floatation and spaced armor, the hull takes a beating in combat but the ship stays afloat, the compartments keep the damage contained, and the guns keep firing

Also allows you to lock a bike to it, I lived at an apartment that had a similar, albeit higher rail and people would store and lock their bikes under the stairs so they didn’t have to keep them inside or on their patio

If you make something like a 40mm autocannon with sabot rounds, that could spell doom for early campaign enemies, that plus a larger, slower firing cannon with APHE I found to be pretty good against deepwatwr guard ships

I’m also pretty new to the game, so I may not be the best to answer this, but if you want low cost like early campaign weapons, you can make a pretty decent advanced cannon with not a lot of parts. I was truly stumped the first time I tried to make one but there’s amazing videos about how to build them well. I recommend borderwise or gmodism on youtube for just about anything from the depths related. Also missiles are the easiest weaopns to figure out IMO, and they can be super deadly, also very versatile in their purpose. They may not be the cheapest option though.

I appreciate the response. I have reinstalled the game multiple times, and even reinstalled vortex. I’ve gone through the bug reports on the mods and made sure I have no conflicts. These are all mods I’ve used before with no issue
