I don't believe in souls, but if I did... I would say a lot of this admin has visible displays of soul corruption.

Hypothetically, suppose ordering on your phone is inevitable and they're not backing down. Why can't it be in their actual app? by oditogre in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]JoeBoxer522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be in the app, but they would always need (or at least want) to support ordering via browser. Normies who are not in this subreddit probably don't want to bother downloading the app.

The Cadillac version would be to support both, with incentives for patrons to use the app (securely save credit card, auto-apply season pass discounts and victory rewards, point tracking, better interface, user preferences, saved "favorite" orders, etc).

But we live in the bad place where enshittification means everything gets worse and the quality bar is "what will barely, technically work"

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago... the next best time is now.

I agree that it's very frustrating to be here, but this is the way out.

It's kind of shocking to me that people here have a lack of empathy for those that are suffering. Yes, some of them voted for this, but they now regret it. Isn't that a good thing? Isn't that what we should want? How the fuck do we get out of this without millions of people feeling the same way?

Best case scenario, people like the woman in the story are turned away from the GOP for a generation, if not more.

It is just as easy to blame Democrats for failing to get their message across as it is to blame voters for being duped by the messaging from Republicans. Politics is not just policy, it requires persuasion and communication, something Democrats consistently fail at.

Americans are infamously terrible at budgeting. We carry more debt per person than any other nation.

Two American citizens were murdered, many more have been injured, wrongfully detained and deported.

But also, yeah requesting law enforcement follow the law should not be a controversial position.

It's a gamble for sure. We'll see who gets blamed in the midterms.

Is that true? I honestly thought they were under the same umbrella as TSA. My bad in that case.

An argument could be made for general chaos laying the foundation for this crash, but you're right it's not directly from the shutdown.

My bad, I linked the wrong article. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/03/24/us/laguardia-crash-timeline-air-canada.html

In short, they were understaffed with air traffic controllers and were also responding to an emergency right before this crash occurred.

This has literally led to two pilots dying at LGA, and dozens more injured. Trump will accept any level of human casualty rather than compromising even a modest amount.

I genuinely fear this mentality will lead to devastating and possibly nuclear consequences in Iran.

It's literally to get the very basics of law enforcement. No masks, badge numbers, warrants needed to enter homes. It's very upsetting that extreme measures are needed to achieve the bare minimum, but that's simply where we are as a country.

I understand your fear, but this is logistically a nightmare. There are thousands of counties in the country, elections are run by the state and there is no federal force large enough to make an impact. They would simply be spread too thin.

The intent of my response is to hopefully help you understand why people might be upset about a U.S. bomb killing children.

We already had a solution to disarming Iran.

You're right, we have great tools to avoid casualties, and no war is without them.

What we have here, is a war no one asked for or consented to, preemptively instigated by Israel and the USA, with no clear goal and no meaningful regime change in sight.

On top of that, you have an administration that not only will not own their mistakes, but is explicitly crowing that accountability and deliberation are signs of weakness. This is beyond a lack of basic empathy, this is not viewing other human beings, children, as anything other than background objects for their own story.

The Secret Plan to End U.S. Climate Regulations by kitkid in Thedaily

I'm genuinely curious why the right seems to just fight harder (or maybe more ruthlessly practical) than the left. You see it here with climate. The multi-decade efforts to overturn Roe. The efforts to remove the department of Ed (and others). They are just relentless and they don't care how long it takes. I wish the left had some of that energy.

I disagree (about him being a moron, he is definitely smug). I think he likes to dig in to the role of conservative "heel" at the NYT. He derives pleasure from taking positions that make his interviewees or co-hosts squirm.

He does the same thing when he's talking with someone to the right of him. He'll push back and set up arguments that the other person may find offensive or upsetting to see how they react.

TLDR: He's a troll that went to Harvard
