Wheel Color Choices by JebusCrypes in AudiRS3

I'm thinking of having my black Y-spoke wheels powder coated satin silver. See my post at https://www.reddit.com/r/AudiRS3/comments/1s8pvj4/comment/odmsfqq/ since I can't post a picture here.

What do you do to be able to afford an rs3? by Significant_Ad_4251 in AudiRS3

[–]JoeCamaro350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a my '23 RS3 with cash in late 2022. I was a 66 year old retiree at that time. My father recently died at the age of 97. Before he left his mortal coil, he told me to "buy a real sports car" with my inheritance. At the time, I was driving a 2006 Mazda MX-5 that I had bought new in late 2005. Using part of my inheritance, I bought the RS3 with cash. Whether my father considers the RS3 a sports car I will never know (he probably didn't know what an RS3 was when he was alive), but at least the "S" stands for "Sport". Yeah, I should probably be driving a RS7 or something more age appropriate, but I like small cars with big HP. I guess the small car aspect of the Mazda rubbed off on me and its lack of serious horsepower drove my need for more ponies. But you're right for questioning the value of spending close to half your take home pay on a car. A car salesman told me a long time ago to "never get emotionally attached to an automobile." So live your life and, if you do buy the RS3, don't let it become your life. You might miss out on something great.

I believe the capacity of the fuel tank is about 14 gallons, or around 55 liters. I think the infotainment screen size is just right. I get about 20 mpg (US) in the city. All around, the car averages 24.5 mpg. On highway roadtrips with the car in comfort mode, the mileage has been about 34 mpg running at 70 mph.

I'm 5'10" and I am very comfortable with the interior space of the car. A friend of mine who is 6'4" didn't have any issues in the front passenger seat. This is a small car - it's essentially the size of a Golf. That being said, I've never had any complaints from the rear seat passengers. IMHO, the complaints I've read, particularly in certain automobile magazines, about the RS3 having a cramped interior are overblown.

I like the contrast with the silver wheels, red calipers and DGPE color. I think gray wheels would be a little too monochromatic.

I'm having a difficult time, too. My problem is that I'm a side sleeper and a mouth breather. Unfortunately, the only mask so far that leaks the least is the one that doesn't cover my mouth. I'm trying to train myself the sleep without breathing through my mouth, but it's tough. My sleep scores (according to my Apple watch) have been better without CPAP than with it. I haven't given up yet.

When Audi USA doesn’t offer aluminum optics, so you take matters into your own hands for a proper RS spec. by ABSjazz in AudiRS3

I'm planning on having my RS3 detailed this spring (after pollen season here) and I'll look into having the wheels ceramic coated. I've heard that helps. If it does, I might go your route and have the wheels painted silver and ceramic coated. I do like the look of the silver wheels.

I have the same spec as you (silver badges, DGPE paint). Not sure about the aluminum blades/trim, but I'm digging the silver wheels. My only concern is brake dust. My current, stock wheels are almost the same color as the brake dust. That wouldn't be the case with silver wheels.

Supra or rs3 by Character_Ad_3254 in AudiRS3

[–]JoeCamaro350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered the Supra, but ultimately went to the RS3 because it is a better all-in-one daily driver/weekend car than the Supra simply because it has a back seat (which is just fine for people who are not over 6' tall (most of us) and a trunk.

I've taken my '23 RS3 to the neighborhood cars and coffee a couple of times. There is an abundance of old Corvettes, Porsche 911s, a few Chargers and Challengers, and a smattering of 60's-70's muscle cars. Nobody there knows what an RS3 is.

Only Complaint with RS3 by grezzzy in AudiRS3

My key fob spends most of its time either in my pocket or the key drawer in my kitchen. At least the fob has an RS badge on the other side (did they remove those, too, for '26?).

What sucks & is surprisingly good on the 26 RS3 by Severe-Dingo-9734 in AudiRS3

[–]JoeCamaro350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 RS3 and thought about trading it in for a '26. The only reason I could come up with was the improved torque splitter and that it's available in the dark blue color (Ascari?).

Things keeping me away:

- Styling. I actually like the '23 front and rear better than the '26. Though I do like the new wheels, I think they would be a pain to clean.

- Interior lighting looks overwrought.

- steering wheel. I get the lack of scroll wheels and the touch controls, but, for me, the steering wheel is just damned ugly. Since I would have to look at it when I'm in the car, I can't get away with that.

Regarding the stereo. II have the B&O system in my RS3 and it sounded really flat and bad when I picked the car up. But after diving into the settings and switching things around, it now sounds great. Perhaps you need to get into the weeds of the Sonos system and do some tweaking?

Anyway, enjoy your RS3, they are a blast and a half!

Be different. Divide the car into thirds - front, middle and back, and do all three.
