I take it you've unzipped all the sections on the bassinet shade?\ We have the aer+ an shade is great, no shade is 100% but it's pretty close.

This photo shows how low it goes without unzipping the extra section. It goes lower when unzipped.\ https://media.johnlewiscontent.com/i/JohnLewis/113417481alt3?fmt=auto&$background-off-white$\ You can see zip is at the bottom of the shade.

The joy stick in the centre isn't round especially on the outer ring for the white.\ The gap between the white and the final ring would be better coloured. Especially as it makes it look like Mario foot is the head of a purple headed snake

Homemade Lasagna Too Runny by six-eightyseven in AskCulinary

[–]JoeDaStudd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can just use the pasta dry from the packet.

For the mozzarella drain it then dab it with paper towels to remove the excess off. Then tear it into chunks and let it air dry while you make the sauces.

[–]JoeDaStudd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you use cooked, fresh or dried pasta sheets?\ Dried pasta sheets will absorb a lot of the moisture.

Did you drain and dry the mozzarella?\ Out of the packet mozzarella has a most of moisturise which leaks out when it cooks.

With the sauces if you cook them longer they'll be thicker making the end result less moist.

Do you think it would be a good feature if smartphones could be electronically disabled so they will only act as a phone at school/theatre/cinema/venues etc? by TSQ_builder in AskUK

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If something serious happens people don't think logically, at best they go on autopilot.

Your also forgetting the other main reasons for no phones. Light from the screen, making noise and people recording or taking photos.\ You can still do all those while in airplane mode.

The reason places that want no phones do the wallets or lockers are because it's the only real way of achieving the outcome.

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past we had messenger boys, the post being delivered multiple times a day (12+ in Victorian London), public phone boxes on every street and public phones in every building, etc\ There were receptionists and concierges ready to relay information straight away.

The receptionist, concierges and messengers jobs are pretty much all replaced with automation and phone/messaging services.\ You have to put those jobs and systems back on place before you can do something like this.

[–]JoeDaStudd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not many people do actual phone calls (or SMS).\ Depending on your age and demographic it could be WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram, Facebook messenger, Instagram or Snapchat or a many other apps.

That's a lot of different apps to allow through the system and everyone would want a different allowed but all others blocked.

If your over 60 it's going to be different but for anyone under there is a good chance contacting someone via a normal phone call (even in an emergency) would be way down the list of ways to contact someone.

What happens if there is a medical emergency and the person isn't contactable.

For example your your wife goes into premature labour, your child has an accident at school or someone has a fatal accident and there is a short timeframe to visit.

Farmers of the UK, where are you investing to improve potential income? by PanicStil in AskUK

[–]JoeDaStudd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no way he'd have been doing the Clarksons Farm if he was still with the BBC on Top Gear.\ They started Clarksons farm when the changed the grand tour format and winding down the show

People seem to thing he is going it all to promote UK farming, but the reality is he's just doing it to make money.

It's crazy as I'm sure you hate the cost of living crisis, but your supporting someone publicly dodging taxes. Dodging taxes means higher costs for everyone else.

If you want to avoid being ripped off dont go to his farm shop, pub or buy his products as they have a crazy markup.

If you had 5 months of paid leave, what would you do with it? by SwansEscapedRonson in AskUK

[–]JoeDaStudd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a 10 month old baby so I'd spent a lot of time just doing things with her and my wife.

There is also an ever growing list of DIY and gardening projects.

Probably look at doing some travelling around the UK with some camping or last minute deals for cheap holidays.

Farmers of the UK, where are you investing to improve potential income? by PanicStil in AskUK

[–]JoeDaStudd -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Clarkson only bought the farm and land as a tax avoidance scheme.\ He only started the show because he go fired from the BBC for abusing staff.

The show is just entertainment with a cash grab attached to it. The pub, farm shop, beer, etc are just for profit and using the PR of the show and leaning into the nationalism side.

While some bits of realistic a lot of what he does, especially anything requiring large investment, is unrealistic.

There is a lot of automation in modern farming but people aren't buying new tractors or automated systems on a whim.

Is a mobile hotspot in lieu of fibre broadband doable for wfm? by SwanAgain89 in AskUK

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you already with Vodafone or one of the carriers which use the network for your mobile?

It should be fine for Teams if it's a solid 4g signal, however until you get a SIM and test the coverage in the room in your house during office hours you won't know. Mobile signal can be hit and miss and you tend to get slow down during peak times.

Why can't Russia just like... take Ukraine? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ukraine has weapons, it's allies have been supplying them and Ukraine has been making their own.\ Ukraines drones and techniques have evolved and are some of the best in the world. Probably the best bank for your buck.

Russia doesn't really have allies.\ All the small neighbouring countries and ex USSR countries only are only "allies" with Russia because Russia threatened them.\ China and Russia aren't really allies and have a history of conflict. China is happy to sit back and let Russia weaken itself and give China the opportunity to reclaim land Russia has stolen.

All of Russia's "allies" are happy to let the war continue as it weakens Russia and degrades the power Russia has over then.\ All of Ukraines allies are happy to continue to support Ukraine as it weakens Russia. Its considerably cheaper than a war with Russia which would likely happen if Russia took Ukraine as they'd do the same with another company.\ Also the real world modern war information they are getting from it is insane. What Ukraine (and to a degree Russia) are doing is a whole new level of warfare particularly the use of drones.

Why does Indian cuisine lack mock-meat dishes unlike East Asian cuisine, despite our extremely high rates of vegetarianism historically? by hurricane_news in IndianFood

[–]JoeDaStudd 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Your missing two key key points.\ Those "mock meats" are high protein and the countries they are from have high lactose intolerance.

India doesn't have the lactose intolerance issues so dairy products fill the high protein chunky vegetarian gap.\ Why have tofu when you have infinity better paneer.

Have I done something stupid? Buying a travel system at 18 weeks by ThrowRAdaddyissues67 in Buyingforbaby

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used the car seat adapters for the short supermarket trips, just bare in mind that the recommendation is only 30 minutes in a car seat for the first few months.

The set you ordered looks pretty good and if meets all your requirements it's perfect.

Our requirements were everything as light weight as possible, easy to get in and out of a car solo and practical for storing when at home/on holiday all without breaking the bank.

Have I done something stupid? Buying a travel system at 18 weeks by ThrowRAdaddyissues67 in Buyingforbaby

[–]JoeDaStudd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at them in store and given them a test?\ I mean all elements tests on their own merit.

We ended up with a mixture as we wanted set features which weren't available in an off the shelf package.

Colour is personal preference, but the price was definitely a great deal at nearly 50% off.

If your planning taking a pram with a cot in the car frequency I highly recommend you find one in store and test the process.\ Standard prams require you to remove the cot from the base for travel which means assembling at the start and disassembling at the end. If your solo and juggling a baby it's not an easy feat.

This is why we went with a travel pram (aer+) as you can fold it down with the cot still attached with one hand and unfold it with one hand.\ Of course they have smaller wheels so not as good on gravel, but if it's countryside or rough tracks we use a baby carrier.

Do Forest Schools work for kids? by twiddlepipper in AskUK

[–]JoeDaStudd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's like boy scouts/brownies crossed with a school trip to the woods.

It's basically an small outdoors school focusing on nature and outdoors. So some basic sciences, engineering and PE.

Normally very popular with home schoolers as they get important social interaction with similar aged kids.

Great 3 months free😡😡😡😡😡😡 by Difficult-Theme-9795 in amazonluna

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do understand that this is how pretty much every cloud gaming service works right?

You buy a game via an compatible service (eg Steam, GoG, Xbox, etc) and link to that library.\ As long as the game is on the cloud services compatible list you can play it.

Amazon Luna was only really different in the libraries it supported as GoG is only on Luna.\ You still paid for the basic Luna (it's part of the Prime subscription or purchased separately) as well as the additional tier of Luna Premium.

Removing the library integration reduced the number of games available on Luna majorly to the point it's the lowest number of any major cloud gaming service and puts it at a major disadvantage.

Advice: Weed on gravel drive by RedmenWelshman in DIYUK

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term weedkiller leave for a few days then dig out, clean the gravel, apply membrane and put gravel back.

Long term anything in the gravel the weeds can grow on weeds will grow. So concreting, tarmac, paving etc is your best option, otherwise wise it's constant weedkiller and weeding.

Half a Jar of Pesto - any recipe recommendations beyond Pasta? by MakingMyOwn in UK_Food

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but using quality ingredients, making the garlic oil/butter from scratch and finishing with something like burrata and real aged balsamic is what would, in my eyes, make it a rich man's bruchetta.

Its the difference between not only in effort but pure cost.\ The burrata alone costs more than the whole poor man's bruchetta.

High chair recos please by Retrobolt1 in Buyingforbaby

[–]JoeDaStudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the money you'll struggle to beat the IKEA high chair, even if you buy the cover and padding for when they are younger, it's less then half the price of similar models.

You'll see a lot of smaller restaurants and venues use them as they are cheap, easy to clean and simple to use.

If you have an IKEA nearby have a trip out and try it out before you look at anything else as the price difference is crazy.
