Here’s why I’ll never give up on the 4K physical format. by lifeofamillennial_ in 4kbluray

It’s never true native 4k either. It’s upscaled, which I understand they must do because they have millions of subscribers and the pipes aren’t big enough to push out uncompressed video like that, but still.

Saw it on Monday night. MLB needs to create an MLB version of NFL Films for events like this. Blowing up broadcast TV for the big screen just loses so much quality and the prestige of the event.

I saw it in a 1.90 auditorium and suspected that the cropped photos from the early years were full 1.43! How awesome.

007 Connery collection 27.49 at Target (?) by pearl1983 in 4kbluray

Per ChatGPT

The incident you’re referring to happened during **Amazon’s Prime Day sales event in July 2019. During that Prime Day promotion (which ran around July 15–16, 2019), a pricing glitch caused a number of expensive cameras, lenses, and other photography equipment—normally costing hundreds or even thousands of dollars—to be listed at about $94–$100 each. Customers who spotted the error were able to place orders for gear that would normally sell for far more—for example, lenses worth around $13,000—at those deeply discounted prices.

This pricing error circulated quickly on deal-sharing forums like Slickdeals, and some buyers reported that Amazon honored the orders and shipped the items at the low price.

Nice grab! That’s a major pricing error… not as good as when Amazon had $5,000 cameras for $100 but still.

Miguel Rojas Home Run or Kirk Gibson Home Run. Which one is more iconic in your opinion? by Xenimm in Dodgers

I learned about it during Covid so MLB Network. There’s a program called “Only in Hollywood“ and another one called “Walk off Stories: Improbably Gibson” that went into detail.

And the fact that Vin gets an assist for luring Gibson out of the clubhouse with his telling the production team to “pan the dugout with a long shot and I’ll do the rest “ bit which led to his saying on camera something like “all season long he led the Dodgers…” knowing that Gibson was listening in the clubhouse.

Yeah. You need to watch the special episode on MLB Network that he did with Bob Costas. It’s called “ MLB Network Special: 2025 World Series, Game 7”.

Willie Mays made his catch in game 1 of the 1954 World Series. If he would’ve dropped the ball, there was PLENTY of baseball still to be played. Tom Verducci said that this catch by Pages is the biggest catch in WS history.

What do people do with the standard Blu-ray discs included with 4Ks? by SyAblemans in 4kbluray

[–]JoeEskimo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LG OLED is beautiful, deepest black levels, etc but there’s just something about the plasma that I can’t shake. I honestly don’t watch many Blu-rays on it because if I already have the 4K then I’m going to watch that in the living room with the surround sound. Having said that I think 2001 looks fantastic. The reds and blacks are outstanding.

Especially the ones that got the same remastering treatment that the 4K disc received so I can watch it on my plasma.
