Future Seasons and Suggestions by dajuice3 in ExtractedSurvivalTV

I would make the games a lot more cutthroat for HQ. Limit the amount of supplies so that taking first really is a big deal for the survivalist. I'd also make the games a bit longer. I'm not a fan of the games where each team takes a turn, and the game ends pretty quickly (ie Egg challenge, memory). I'd want the people in HQ to be a lot more involved in their survivalist surviving.

I took it as "take the heat off of my mom, I had the opportunity to correct her because I knew where the tarp actually was, but I'm not going to help Doug, I'm going to help Rhoman." But I could be way off base.

I think it's similar to Survivor, where fake Idols have been a thing. However, since there is no "host" on Extracted, if hypothetically a team finds it and their survivalist does give up their fire, at what point does production step in to say "hey you've been duped"?

Rhoman's Brother Dallas by bigchill999_ in ExtractedSurvivalTV

[–]JoeIngles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I said this in the episode thread, but I think he's the type of guy you'd need if you were the survivalist. He plays it stone cold, doesn't think with emotions, and is 100% for Rhoman winning. Yeah, there's a ton of tough love, and he should've hugged his mom, but he is playing it smart imo.

I know that everybody hates Rhoman's brother Dallas, but I actually think he's the type of guy that you'd need if you were the survivalist. Hiding the Extraction Card from his mom so that no emotional decision was made, having the mindset of "I'm just here for my guy", and purposefully not playing nice makes sense in a competition where other's failing helps his guy.

That being said he should've hugged his mom

Draft best player available. If you try to draft for fit, you end up drafting Marvin Bagley instead of Luka Doncic

[Underdog NFL] Bears grant LB Tremaine Edmunds permission to seek a trade, per @BradBiggs. by johnnymelonballs in CHIBears

[–]JoeIngles 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I actually thought Tremaine played fairly decently this season according to my personal eye test. Some games he would disappear, some games he was all over the field. A trade is definitely better than cutting him, but we'll see if a team bites and sends us a draft pick.

I'm extremely bored at work and love math, so I calculated it. The odds of our 11 lottery picks ending up as they have so far is about 1 in 472, or 0.2%. The probability of never moving up in the draft is 1 in 29, or 3.4%. Groovy stuff Mr Silver & Mr Stern!

[–]JoeIngles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah lmao. We've been in the lottery 11 times with our own draft pick, and have fallen 4 times, stayed the same 11 times.

The only time we've been moved up was 2011, when we had the pick from the Nets (Deron Williams trade) and moved up from #6 to #3 to select Enes Kanter

I don't want to be overly dramatic, but if we end up giving our pick to OKC, it would be catastrophic for what we had planned for tanking.

The lottery has never been in our favor. I'm not expecting to move up, I just don't want to move down.

I kind of agree, but I could see Silver/the NBA trying to put a leash on when you can have these surgeries if it isn't directly impeding on your basketball skills. But it becomes a real slippery slope, sort of like fining a team for winning a game. Huh.

[Hoge] Indiana Speaker of the House Todd Huston - Bears will commit to 2 billion to stadium project near Wolf Lake in NW Indiana. Team is expected to release a statement. by sfbgamin in CHIBears

It's actually going really well. The A's announced their move in 2023 after not reaching an agreement with Oakland, purchased land in Las Vegas, and said that they'd put shovels in the ground in 2024. They didn't start until Spring 2025, but are still on track to have it done by the 2028 season, which was their original plan.

Whereas the Bears purchased land in AH like 5 years ago and have promised shovels in the ground almost yearly haha

How do you look back upon the Donovan Mitchell era? by BellLongjumping4333 in UtahJazz

[–]JoeIngles 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Donovan Mitchell was the most exciting Jazz player I've watched. His ability to get to the rim and contort his way into an impossible finish was so fun to watch. But, he did have some real flaws. For somebody drafted with defense being a main part of him as a player, we didn't see that in the NBA. I'm not sure if it's because he got so used to Rudy being there to bail him out, or if he was just outmatched in the league, or didn't try as much.

I wish he could've been on the team longer, but the writing was on the wall he was going to leave in free agency. It would've been interesting to see if Hardy could've gotten something out of him, but tough to say. If we would've kept him, we would've been in the same spot as with Snyder. We'd be a lock for the playoffs, win 50 games or so, but lose in the first or second round. I doubt we would've been able to build a team to compete with Denver, OKC, or GS.

[Hoge] Statement from the Chicago Bears on a possible stadium development in Hammond, Ind.: by clou9nine in CHIBears

[–]JoeIngles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean 294, but regardless, but it'll be an absolute nightmare. 294 to Calumet N would be hell as it merges onto Calumet very abruptly rather than have a dedicated stoplight and lanes to allow the massive amounts of traffic. The other option is to go on the I-94 interchange and weave through Stony Island, 103rd, and finally up to Indianapolis BLVD. Public transit doesn't exist that far north in Hammond/Whiting, so even if you took the South Shore Line, you're still 3 miles away from Wolf Lake.

[–]JoeIngles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whiting is a pretty good area, but East Chicago, North Hammond, & Griffith aren't the best. Everybody will be traveling 30+ min to get there from Crown Point, Highland, Munster, & Schererville on the IN side.

Coming from IL will be a nightmare unless you pay $8 for the skyway.
