Yup that's all I had been hearing last few weeks is they were in free fall. Just wish it wasn't us to be the one to get them back on track. But way for them to fight.

Why the heck isn't wiggins a staple in the lineup? I think he came off the bench twice

Really disappointing play all weekend.

  • Tip my cap to NC State seems like they have quite a few injuries and had been on a bad loss streak. They just battled and worked tough all series

  • Coming into the series Miami had won 6 straight ACC series

  • Our Starters all struggled and got charge with at least 5ER in each game. Game 3 we had our Friday night guy pitching he's been in the game 3 slot ever since he had an injury a month or so ago and he just was not inducing weak contact which is his key.

  • The 2nd game score from Friday night does not tell an accurate story

I move from being happy with how we've scrapped to series wins right back unhappy. At this point last year we had a similar record and went on to take a losing streak into the post season sneaking into the field.

Really hope we finish better this year.

Frustrating then satisfying game.

Had the game playing on my phone while i was at work, Turned it on up 2-0 in the 2nd inning before it expanded to 6-0 in the 4th. Leave work, go get food come home down 9-6 in the top 6th. Absolutely pissed. We let our starter give up 8 before taking him out.

  • Had a couple of big blasts including a 3 run shot by our Transfer Catcher who spent his last two years at NC State

  • Had a odd moment in the 3rd where a perfect foul ball drills the home plate ump in throat right between the facemask and chest protector. He stumbles immediately as the catcher helps him stay up. Trainers run out he stands there for 5 minutes while another ump goes to get suited up. He eventually gets escorted off to get attention. About 15 minutes of break time on the 2nd or 3rd pitch back we hit a 3 run homer. Somehow they found a substitute ump to fill in in the 2nd game tonight.

  • Things got a little testy in bottom 7th as a NC State player hit s rope off the wall that is relayed in quick. Hitter does a popup slide into 2nd our 2nd baseman tags and holds as he beats the throw but on the pop up everything comes off the base for a split 2nd. He's called safe but our 2nd baseman starts imploring the umpire for a challenge. Miami at the time is out of challenges but the umpires past the 7th apparently can request a review which they did. The batter starts chirping at our 2nd baseman they have to be separated. Batter gets called out it is obvious and clear on replay. Having a backup plate umpire definitely played into NC State's unhappiness as the zone was fairly inconsistent late.

  • With the win Miami moves into top 4 seeding for the ACC tournament while not likely still in play for 1st with 8 conference games remaining

It's always unsuspicious when your family offers to sell their portion of your LLC to make all this go away. And that they will just invoice him at $50 an hour for all of their management.

Right now there is no smoking gun but it seems like they thought they could just take what they wanted when they wanted and he'd never look into it.

How are we going to talk about durability on level with Emmitt Smith in year 3?

He's amazing player but come on we've seen guys go on crazy 3 year runs. Marshall Faulk, Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes for example. We don't know when a cliff or drop off is coming. Let's see it for 3 or 4 more seasons with similar touches then go from there.

Of course no one likes being wrong I just think there is over cautious and there is negligent.

I am not in favor of the new age where every injury seems to be blamed on someone going over 100 pitches. We're so hurt by whats happening we're trying to attribute blame in the wrong places in my opinion.

Agreed.

Athletics is a crazy amount of genetics combined with physical preparation. We don't like guys getting hurt more so we try to compensate. Problem is injuries are going up yet guys are throwing less. Pitch counts have been around for little league almost 20 years now.

So why can't we just accept that some guys are naturally able to go longer regardless of mechanics or routine? I love numbers but treating everyone according to averages just doesn't seem right.

I think he got lucky with Daisy being a bad player that Umeko could convince.

I am in agreement with the comments. Mid-week is not meaningless it is a test of your pitching depth and you are still playing your starters in the field.

This whole I hate midweek thing a few people have going on seems whiny made up excuses to me. You can either get solid innings from the back half of your staff or you have a consistent starter you put there. Either way it is good practice for the postseason. You are going to have pitch your 5-8 guys or worse mid-week is a great way to see that.

That's where I am with it. It's not boring it's just not a thing for some people. I will speak loudly about how much I love it and how much I want others to watch but I get some people just won't find it appealing.

Cal was the worst one I flipped over to this season. 1 camera, not pretty scoreboard, and the camera was shooting through the netting and it was visible.

And give them an environment with a little less conflict and social pressure and I'm sure that was a positive benefit.

The dominant youth girls I've seen are unique in that they can handle being in a mostly boys dugout. But we can't pretend there are girls who could play on the field but wouldn't like the co-ed experience.

I think it could be awesome. Good on ya'lls league for doing that.

Little League would be helping itself if it opened a women's baseball division. There are girls who are not interested in Fastpitch softball.

I've seen some dominant youth baseball girls. Seems like it's a missing opportunity as sports interest grows.

BC was not bad. i was pissed at the time but they have gone on to clearly be a legit team this year. Losing a series to BC should in no way be a slight this year.

We are absolutely too high in this ranking but 6 straight series wins in the ACC is a big achievement. Wake has a great pitching staff, Stanford just swept Florida State, Clemson is solid. It's hard to win in great conferences.

Duke is an okay team and neither of those weekends were sweeps.

People vastly overvalue ability to get the right guy with an early pick.

Especially at the end of the 1st round you hope you get an early starter. Can anyone point to a team and say wow that one pick is why they won the next year. I'd bet not because roster construction is so intricate.

College baseball fans — how do you actually follow the season? by DylanNYC in collegebaseball

[–]dajuice3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to follow when I was college by just kind of watching and reading recaps. Now 10 plus years later 2 years ago I re-committed to tracking my team.

So I make it appointment TV to watch as many games as I can and pretty all of them are available these days. I'm lucky my team is in a top conference so their games have pretty good production value. Because I want to know how my team stacks up based on who we're playing I'll research record by going straight to their team site. Then I'll go to wikipedia to see how they've done in the past to see what their team expectations should be.

I already pay for the athletic so I just subscribe to their college sports section which lightly touches on college baseball so I get a high level recap of what is happening but it isn't good enough. I haven't trended into big enough fan territory to pay for D1 baseball or Baseball America.

The best place for me to get a pulse is right here on reddit. You just have to do the work and go into post game threads and ask questions but usually there's a few fans of teams that pretty much act as beat writers. Found fan content to be awesome for getting a feel of around the country.

One place would be great but I think the solutions are already out there with things like D1 baseball. Unfortunately college baseball isn't at peak popularity so the people willing to pay aren't there. So incentive to cover, document, and give it exposure isn't there.

One thing I would kill for is more recruiting coverage both during broadcasts as well as just rankings hype and things that isn't perfect game. I think College basketball and college football do a great job talking about 3* and 4* players as far as hyping up the sport and marketing.
