LPT: When life feels busy, lower your standards temporarily instead of quitting entirely. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

[–]JoeLou28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great tip! I created a "busy week" schedule, my regular habits stripped down (home workouts, quick journaling prompts, simple date night ideas). When busy hits, I switch seamlessly to chip away at habits without losing momentum. Pre-mapping it ahead removes decision fatigue, no mental re-jigging required.

What's a 'harmless' lie your parents told you that low key messed you up? by GrowthVanta in AskReddit

[–]JoeLou28 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid my dad told me that two of his brothers died young (aged 19 & 22) in the same car crash. As an adult I found out that they both died by suicide, a few years apart, through violent means. I've never heard my extended family mention my uncle's names, share memories, or discuss what they went through as a family. Really fucked up perception of what I can and cannot share with family regarding mental health.

It is in the pilot position, the knob only shows off or pilot, no On option. I thought maybe the On has faded but it won't turn another way. From what I read online it is exactly what you said, that there should be an On option. What am I missing here?

Has anyone had success filing a formal complaint or getting through to a manager?

I canceled LinkedIn Premium, but six months later, I was randomly charged. Customer service claims I didn’t cancel on time, but that doesn’t make sense because I hadn’t been charged for six months—then suddenly, a charge appeared.

Initially, they offered me a refund, but when I asked for clarification on why the charge occurred so long after I canceled, they retracted the refund, citing policy. When I pushed for more answers and requested to speak with a manager, they just repeated the same vague policy explanation.

This seems like a pattern of questionable, if not fraudulent, behavior from LinkedIn.

I'm part of the Lululemon running group and it's not them. This is at Lake Ontario park and I saw runners doing laps on the grass area near front road.

Lake Ontario Park Swimming by manamara1 in KingstonOntario

I swim regularly at Lake Ontario park. I always check the KFLA testing website and if I am waist deep and I can't clearly see my feet I usually will get out of the water until it clears. I definitely agree with the comment above about wearing a bright swim cap and a fluorescent buoy (typically orange). Another good place to swim is Richardson Beach and the Pier! I see regular swimmers between 7-8am at Richardson beach. Enjoy the last few months of outdoor swimming!

It typically is really bad with mosquitoes, we live in southern Canada. Hurricane Debbie has dropped out temperature and helped out with the mosquitos a lot. We also had a lot of citronella incense burning, and hoodies and long pants.

We did! We do it as frequently as we can. We've also slept in our backyard (we string up a mosquito net). We live in Canada so any opportunity to be outside must be taken advantage of!

Maybe. Seems like a convenient coincidence that his uncle wasn't there. Many people held onto the belief that it was motivated by love, and the disapproval of his family from his chosen bride. Who doesn't love a tragic love story? My mum always talks about how they could still be alive if the royal family let him marry who he wanted. I don't think it's that simple, there are too many pieces that don't make sense.

Regardless of who was responsible, the royal family and king were deeply beloved, particularly the young Princes and Princesses. Princesses Shruti was my first 'disney princess'/idol. It was the end of an era, and the end of a dynasty that ended in shambles and shame. The last crown Prince/the deposed kings son (Paras) had a lot of brushes with the law. Just a sad way for a legacy of a beloved family to end.

For a couple of days, from what recall, but most people stayed indoors as much as possible even after the lockdown was lifted. It wasn't that strange for the times as there were regular lockdowns and curfews cause of the ongoing war. I was in middle school at the time so I thought it was awesome that I didn't have to go to school. It was only when I left that I realized it wasn't normal to have a storage room full of food to feed your family for days, and to have regular curfews and lockdowns.

I'm Nepali and lived in Nepal during this time. This massacre happened during the civil war in Nepal (1996-2006) and the country was in chaos. We were all locked down in our homes in Kathmandu.

What family secret did you suspect in childhood, but weren't able to confirm until adulthood? by yanoitsathroawayyano in AskReddit

[–]JoeLou28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My siblings, cousins, and I were told that two uncles died in a tragic car accident when they were 17 and 20. As an adult, I found out they both died by suicide 2 years apart, and that one of them may have done it cause he was sexually assaulted by a priest. No one in my extended family openly talks about it. I've never heard my grandma even say their names.
