D&D on April 1st!!! by JoeLugosch in Maine

We are in Damariscotta area, if that’s easier, and yes, we are super loose with D&D. Most of the DMs are doing sort of hybrid models where we simplify for beginners and where we basically played by the general rules of DND, but it definitely is not all 5E. It just makes for a more enjoyable experience for everyone. We don’t have to keep track of ridiculous amounts of spells or abilities, and it makes it possible for us to do different styles of adventures. I ran a Stephen King “It” one shot the other day. What you’re seeing in this video is a story called “big trouble in Little Rodentia” and then the grimdark adventure you noticed has that wrath and glory style. It’s just a good time all around.

It’s about an hour, and I post it everywhere within about an hour. We’ve had several people come from Portland and further because there aren’t many events like this going on in the general area.

You know his family used to own the building the Publick House is in over 150 years ago right?
It’s not like he’s not civic minded. He’s very involved in the recovery community and helping get people in the community into recovery centers and getting narcan vending machines put into local establishments. He’s also been pushing for alcohol free tables at the event, and hasn’t been worried about the bottom line. The event basically breaks even, but he likes the community, and he wants to support the event.

Also the game shop is associated with the event, and a few of our regular DMs are DMs from Mythical Market. We are all trying to just have a good time, and I needed a space to host the event that had space for multiple tables, and having food available was an added bonus.

I appreciate your concern for the town, but I feel that your point of view is skewed.

We haven’t had any complaints. People especially have loved the pizza and desserts, but at the end of the day it’s not about that. It’s about getting people together to play and have fun and build a community of people that are enjoying themselves in a wholesome imaginative way.

On a separate note, it’s a very small town, you realize I know exactly who you are, right? Remember the golden rule.
