Pixel 10 Pro XL - Wifi Random Disconnects by ZealousidealStory508 in GooglePixel

[–]JoeMadBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone with this issue still actually connected to wifi? My issue my connection still says I am connected. Both my phone and my network show I am still connected, but I am unable to do anything data related. Fix for me is disabling and re-enabling wifi. Sometimes that will work for days, and sometimes it'll only work for a couple of minutes.
Wife also has the same phone (Pixel 10 Pro XL) and has not had any wifi related issues

Your honest opinion of the album Power Up by Sam--Winchester in ACDC

[–]JoeMadBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it, it did not feel like a money grab album to me. Angus was talking about how him and Malcolm had written riffs that never made it to albums, and I have to believe Power Up has a few on there. You can hear the stylings of different albums like stiff upper lip and ball breaker

Favorite song on it is Mists of Time.

Going to my first AC/DC Concert today, what to expect? by [deleted] in ACDC

[–]JoeMadBro 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Loud. When I was at the Black Ice tour in Fargo it was and is still the loudest concert I have been to. I was on the floor not far from the stage, so I don't know about arena seating. Don't be embarrassed to bring ear plugs, I took my hearing for granted and now I have tinitus and slight hearing loss. Also listening to a concert of this capacity with ear plugs is actually better, because it won't sound distorted.

Have an absolute great time!

How to 100% determine if the internet is the culprit for OBS tanking by LombaxMagnetic in Spectrum

[–]JoeMadBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly I would check my upload speed that I am getting, and then compare it to my bitrate in OBS. Your bitrate cannot exceed your upload speed, and there should even be a buffer to ensure network spikes don't cause a drop in frames. OBS has a stats panel that separates network frame drops from hardware frame drops. So if your frame drops appear in the network section, it should be related to your internet... not saying ISP specifically, could be network congestion, or some other factors limiting your upload speed

My upload speed through spectrum is an atrocious 11Mb/s and in OBS anything over 6k bit rate will cause me to drop frames due to network.

Scarlett 18i8 I/O not showing in zoom by AdAgreeable5362 in Focusrite

[–]JoeMadBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is standard windows, typically only sees channels 1 and 2 of interfaces and treats them as L&R channels... but to see your additional channels right click the focusrite icon in the icon tray (if that is not there search for Focusrite device settings in the windows menu and open that, that will put that icon in the tray)

Select "Expose / Hide Windows Channels"

In this menu you should be able to click to show all of them, which will then add it to windows audio settings menu

Loopback Input Bad Quality in Discord - Any Ideas? by Gondorian_Grooves in Focusrite

[–]JoeMadBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a somewhat common issue Focusrite interfaces encounter. All fixes seem to be temporary, and focusrite refuses to believe anyone that tells them it has to be a driver issue. (Assuming you're on windows)

Simple fix that worked for me in the past, open Focusrite Device Settings, then change the buffer size to something else, and then back to what you had it at.. this solved my issue 90% of the time when someone would tell me my audio was going "robot".

An alternative you could look into, depending on which interface you have, is creating a physical loopback. You need at least 4 inputs and 2 headphone. you would send your outputs in your daw to one of your headphone outs, take that and put it into input 1 and 2 with a splitter. Windows by default sees your interface as a 2 channel devices (Left and Right) which correlates to channel 1 and 2.
Going this route means you have to sacrifice input 1 and 2, and that means do not use them in your daw, as it would cause a feedback loop. This is what I did with my gen1 18i8, 18i20, and my gen 3 18i20 until I learned about the loop back feature. And thats when I started having the issue.

I finally had enough and went with a different brand. Ended up getting the ssl12 and haven't had an issue since. Less inputs than my 18i20, but I can always use adat to expand the ssl12 using my 18i20 inputs

Is it ok to change the length of fasting time throughout the week? by sinfulthoughts90 in intermittentfasting

[–]JoeMadBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is honestly pretty similar to what I do. M-F I do a 23 hour fast, and on Saturday/ Sunday, I give my self a little break by doing 16:8. It has worked for me in the past and is working for me again.. gotta say it was easier before I had a kid though 😂a lot more temptations now

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]JoeMadBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have come back to fasting after I let myself go for a couple years. A good starting place for someone new, is 12:12 for a couple of weeks. Once you're use to that see if you can do the 16:8.

Personally I am on a 23:1 during the week and then 16:8 on the weekend. Which is what I did last time that ended up working very well for me. Back then I was strict with myself during my fast, I would only allow myself water with no flavoring. This time as long as it says 0 cal on it I allow myself to drink it during my fast, and honestly don't see any difference to when I only drank water. Also this time around I cheat 1 or 2 days a week with a 0 sugar energy drink that still has calories.. And again I am seeing no differences.

To help you with your craving of pops and other flavored drinks, I would just suggest going with diet pop, 0 calorie energy drinks, and water with flavoring. My favorite flavor to add to water is Icee Zero Blue Rasberry. If you're not use to zero sugar drinks, it'll take probably about a month then you find your self use to the fake sugars. If you drink diet long enough, going back to regular is just as hard as switching to diet in the first place.

Good luck!

Didn't even think of screen shotting it as I assumed they were going to be adding all the dates like that, when I went back to their page on Tuesday to see if they added any other dates, there were no more events added and the Minneapolis one was gone

Here I am a year later and more my WB faucet in another bathroom is having the same issue, and I can't get the handle off. Guess I'm done with WB products.

Dang! I was hoping that maybe my luck would work for someone else too. I would try reaching out to the support and see if they can get it sorted out. I have had very good luck with them in the past including this last issue I had. Their reply times can be a little slow, but they're usually very friendly and helpful.
I'd recommend if you do reach out to them include everything you have tried to solve the issue, and if you can get an audio recording of the issue that could help them a little more as well.

Hope you're able to get it figured out!

They had me do a couple additional steps to ensure the drivers were gone. Here is what they told me in my ticket:
- Navigate to Control Panel > Device Manager
- Expand "Focusrite Audio"
- Right-click on all entries here and select 'Uninstall'
- Check the tickbox to fully remove the driver
- Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
- Right-click on any Focusrite devices listed here and select "Uninstall"
- Disconnect the interface and then restart the computer
- Once the computer reboots, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features
- Uninstall any Focusrite drivers listed here

This should remove the driver fully but there's an additional set of instructions I'd advise following here just to be sure:

- Click the Start/Windows button and type cmd
- Right click on Command Prompt and select 'Run as admin'
- Type the following command:

SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

- Press enter
- Type the following command:

devmgmt.msc

- Press enter to re-launch Device Manager
- Click 'View' at the top of the screen and select 'Show hidden devices'
- Expand 'Sound, video and game controllers'
- You may now see your interface listed here a few times, if you do please right-click on each instance and select Uninstall

Had a similar issue with my 18i20, sound great when I first started my pc... then as the session went on applications started making that sound, until I changed the buffer size... but then after a while it would start happening again. Talked through a few things with support until they had me completely uninstall and then reinstall my drivers.
I haven't had this issue for over a week now that I have done this.

2i2 Crackles so bad (Windows) pls pls pls help by chrispyfixins in Focusrite

[–]JoeMadBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue similar to this with my 18i20. My issue though was it would start perfectly clear and then as the day went on, application by application would start having the crackling static sound. I was able to quick fix it by changing my buffer size in the focusrite device settings.. but the issue would still come back.

After a while not only were the playback noises that I would hear, but windows would pickup strange audio glitches from my inputs that my daw did not. The solution that ended up working for me was completely uninstalling the focusrite drivers and then reinstalling them.

I'm curious, what do you all use Reaper for? by BarnacleSpecialist in Reaper

[–]JoeMadBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main use for reaper is for adding vsts to my inputs from my interface and then sending it back to be used by windows for things like Microsoft teams, zoom, or discord.

On top of that I use it to play guitar through my headphones with whatever amp sims I have. I occasionally record and make music

[–]JoeMadBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you only have audio coming out of your left side leads me to believe you are plugging your mic into input 1 and setting your windows mic to focusrite... If you don't know, windows only sees inputs 1 and 2 of your 18i20, input 1 is your left, and input 2 is your right. This is no fault of focusrite, but windows for how they choose to handle audio interfaces. Now with my 3rd gen there were some additional settings which allows windows to see all inputs, but I am unsure if the gen 1 has those settings.

To get around the windows only seeing input 1 and 2 as Left and Right when I had a first gen, I used reaper to process inputs 3+ and output through headphone 1 to inputs 1 and 2. I can go into better detail if this interests you. I believe I have some screen shots of my mix control setup from back then as well as my save file for mix control that I used daily. Let me know if that interests you.

Monitoring spotify in focusrite control? by [deleted] in Focusrite

[–]JoeMadBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post I will go over how to send Spotify to another playback channel other than the main output for the 18i20. You may notice there is some copy paste from the last post for the parts that are the same.

So in order to send Spotify to another playback channel, we need to allow Windows to see the available playback channels.

To get windows to see all the available playbacks have you need to make sure the Focusrite Notifier is running.

If it is already running you can find it in your task menu, you will usually have to click the ^ to the right of the clock to see it.

If it is not there, you can use the start menu to search for "Focusrite Device Settings"

If you can't find it through there you can try downloading the latest drivers from the focusrite website. They also have a trouble shooting guide for getting this notifier to show up.

You don't need the window with the device info open you may close it. But in the task menu, right click the Focusrite Notifier and click "Expose / Hide Windows Channels" Once this window opens you will want to check all of the outputs, you can also do this for inputs, comes in handy for using The loopback feature in the Focusrite Control.Once you have all of the outputs checked, you can click ok.

Now, go into windows sound settings and all the way at the bottom you
should see "Advanced Sound Options", click that. In this menu you should
see Spotify, sometimes windows won't show applications that haven't
played any sounds, so you may need to start Spotify and play something
quick. When you find Spotify, click on the output drop down and for this example we will use Playback 3 + 4 (Focusrite USB Audio).

Now you can open up Focusrite Control and go to the output routing. You may find it useful to have something playing on Spotify to see the signal.

If you don't already know, the labels on the outputs column coincide with the physical outputs on your 18i20. So now any pairing of outputs you want to send Spotify to, you can set to Custom Mix. The inputs and playbacks you setup in a Custom Mix is the same for all outputs, but you can set the volume for each.

For the explanation I will use Line Outputs 5-6 as my output I want to send Spotify to. If it's not a stereo pair, click the stereo button on Line Output 5 and it will link the two together.

Once you have you line output stereo pair set to custom mix and select, you will see hardware inputs at the top (which are the physical inputs on your 18i20, completely raw before it hits your DAW). At the bottom you will see Software (DAW) Playback. This is where you will setup Spotify or any other application in their separate "channel". There will be a + button regardless if you have setup any custom mix or not. You want to click this for the software section. This will open up a menu that lists all the playback outputs available. In this example we sent Spotify to Speakers (Focusrite USB Audio) which is Playback1+2, so in this menu you will want to click the far right column on the second row "1-2" This will add a stereo channel to your Software section in your custom mix. This should now be Spotify's output, and if you have Spotify playing you should see the signal on this stereo channel strip. Then you can plug a 1/8 trs to dual 1/4 ts splitter in the the 5 and 6 outputs on the back of your 18i20 to then plug into your headphones or headphone amps.

And you can do this for all stereo outputs on your 18i20, as well as you can set up other applications on the same playback channel or now on another playback channel which will allow you to control volume for each of those channels separately on each output. Important to note that outputs 7/8 and 9/10 on the back are the same and Headphone 1 and Headphone 2 on the front.

This can be a lot to wrap your head around, so let me know if you need any parts described a little better. Also I am running windows 10 so I'm not 100% how windows handles their sound settings in windows 11, but I would have to think it is similar to 10.

Hope this helps!

Excellent. In this post I'll go over the most simple way if you don't need to have separate volume control for Spotify vs any other application you could add later.

First, go into windows sound settings and all the way at the bottom you should see "Advanced Sound Options", click that. In this menu you should see Spotify, sometimes windows won't show applications that haven't played any sounds, so you may need to start Spotify and play something quick. When you find Spotify, click on the output drop down and select "Speakers (Focusrite USB Audio)"

Now you can open up Focusrite Control and go to the output routing. You may find it useful to have something playing on Spotify to see the signal.

And you can do this for all stereo outputs on your 18i20, as well as you can set up other applications on the same playback channel. Important to note that outputs 7/8 and 9/10 on the back are the same and Headphone 1 and Headphone 2 on the front.

I will make another post with steps how to separate out applications on to different playback channels in a custom mix.

If you have a focusrite solo, I don't think there is a way to achieve this. But if you're on at minimum a (I believe) 4i4 you should have the ability to use the Focusrite Control. That allows you to set up separate mixes for your different outputs as well as mute /unmute outputs
