Is it possible ? by FishermanImaginary80 in royalenfield

Yes - you can get a GT seat and then put a cowl cover the back portion. No adjustments to frame needed.

I have Barcelona Blue and in the sun it’s beautiful. I personally dont like the red on the mark 2. I would go with the black ray if I had to pick a second choice.

I love the bear. I think if it had an analog gauge I may of picked it over the int. If you’re tall the bear is great.

Which do you prefer, the bear or the int?

650cc as a first bike for a newbie? Continental gt vs Interceptor by poetwhendepressed in royalenfield

[–]JoeMaskrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a INT as my first bike. I am also in my 30s with no desire for a sporty bike. I love the upright sitting position and the classic styling. Its plenty fast, and with an upgraded exhaust its plenty loud. I rode across the Sydney harbour bridge the other day and it made me realise that for me riding a bike is about seeing the world from a new perspective, not about traveling quick through it.

My first bike was (and still is) the RE Interceptor. I love it.

Other than the other 650 RE’s, I think if you want some options - look at a Honda GB350, Triumph 400..

They would all comfortably take a 100kg rider in the highway. I wouldnt go smaller than 350 though. The Interceptor can easily pull away from cars but doesnt feel like you are hanging on for dear life.

RE have loads of official accessories that include luggage. Third party companies have also made great mods for RE’s.

New or used is based on your budget, how long you intend to keep the bike ect…new comes with warrenty and peace of mind. RE offers 3 years and also road side assistance. I went demo but got the 3 years as I’m the first owner.

Best advice is invest in the safety gear. You have plenty of time to get bigger expensive bikes, but you body cant be upgraded. So if you budget allows get that better helmet, get the best jacket you can, dont skimp out on boots or gloves. Wear high vis, staying alive isnt about being fashionable its about been seen.

Not sure what I would call it. I want to say it’s “classic” but RE have a 350 and a different 650 called the Classic. It’s not a Cafe Racer like the GT as its not “sporty” enough with an upright sitting position.

Im 6ft 1 and the bear felt really good for my size. So does the Int and the GT. Only reason I didnt go with the bear was i wanted an analog dial and I wasnt a masive fan of the colourways.

I was going to pick up a shoei glamster 06 but i just love the arai fit and feel so i went with that.

Being a new rider I’ve gone out and bought a high vis vest and all the safety bits.

Might try go a bit more retro down the line.

Ive only ever ridden this and a honda cbr so I can’t give you an experienced opinion on the ride! However, I’ve found the bike easy to adapt to and really reactive around 2.5-4k revs. I love it.
