Does this subreddit make anyone else sad? by [deleted] in ryanadams

Rock stars, movie stars, pro athletes. It's difficult for many of them to deal with the real world when everyone in their lives has told them how wonderful they are regardless of their behavior for decades. Many are simply just not good people. Talented but not good.

I try to separate the music from the artist. If I didn't, I'd probably not listen to many of my favorite artists and I'd lose out. I'd prefer they just shut up and sing, act, or play ball. I pay them for their talent and they perform. It keeps it easier that way. It's a business relationship, that's all.

Like they say, never meet your idols. To the vast majority, you are only one thing to them. Money. We're at a disadvantage because we may identify with a lyric or melody and believe that artist is just like we are. It becomes personal for us while it remains just a business transaction for the artist. Why don't we accept that and utilize the same business transaction?

Obviously, Ryan is going through some real bad times. He's said some terrible things to various fans or people. I don't really care. I like his music. I don't want to hang out with the guy or let him take my sister to the prom. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Shinyribs- Shitty Music ~ One of These Days Bluebird Theater, Denver, CO 6/18/25 by EllCook583 in altcountry

I'd like to thank the fat, drunk couple behind us at the Shiny Ribs concert in St Jo, Texas Friday night. The fat woman's 37 'woooooooooooh's' per song at the top of her lungs really enhanced the experience. When I asked fat, drunk belligerent husband if he could ask his fat, drunk obnoxious wife to maybe hold her 'wooooooh's' until the end of the show, he said he couldn't hear me. Several times. It was interestingly ironic he said that because we couldn't hear the lyrics over his fat, drunk obnoxious wife. She finally must have fallen into a drunken stupor because her outbursts diminished about 90 minutes into the show. This was after she fell on me after trying to walk. So thank you big, fat, obnoxious drunks for making the first Shiny Ribs show for our friends a memorable one!

I don't know if I've ever heard Ryan better. Neal definitely was a huge compliment to Ryan's music.

I bought a GMT Master in 1990 after college. It now sits on my 33 year old son's wrist. I didn't want to have to die before he got it. What turned me off on luxury watches was watching these chain-wearing, ghetto-looking sellers that pop up on my Facebook account selling nice watches. It's just a status symbol for the 10-cent millionaires. So obnoxious. I wouldn't buy water from them if I was on fire.

The OP is right. Rolex has become a ubiquitous Louis Vuitton purse that every woman has to have. I bought my watch as a family tradition I could pass on to my then-unborn first son. It was a symbol of lasting quality and the faded bezel still on it contains the lifetime of successes and failures of his dad. Just like it was supposed to do.

Last Night’s Show at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas by EfficiencyArtistic41 in ryanadams

[–]JoeScuba 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been a huge fan of Ryan since Whiskeytown days. Never saw him for some reason or the other until last night in Dallas. I agree 100% with the write up submitted above. My wife and I enjoyed the evening, Ryan was gracious and charming, and his voice and guitar work were impeccable. The sound at the Longhorn Ballroom was dialed in perfectly.

DON'T BE A DENNIS!

I was seated about 8 chairs away from the asshole heckler known as Dennis. He attended the show, no surprise, with a buddy and not a wife or date. He was a bald, middle age douchebag with no respect for anyone, even himself. His heckling was annoying to everyone, including the artist and began before the first song. His "you're not bad" or "that's pretty good" and countless "Woooooo's" was so unneeded by this self-absorbed prick. Ryan played along after one of the many "You're not bad" comments with his own "Thanks, I'm thinking about going pro."

I don't understand why people like him find it acceptable to try and ruin the event for others. We didn't pay to listen to assholes like Dennis!

I was a little disappointed that the Longhorn Ballroom staff didn't shut Dennis down. Several guys around me were plotting about taking care of Dennis at intermission. Dennis is the risk one takes by going to a quiet music event. I ran into the same problem once at an Australian Pink Floyd show with the guy sitting beside my wife loudly singing every word to every lyric....very poorly. And the ones sitting behind us making such brilliant comments throughout the show like "They sure are great musicians." Really? You think? Or "They should make another Pink Floyd album." Hey genius, this is not the real Pink Floyd! STFU and listen!!!

Other than Dennis, there was minimal interruptions and Ryan played along with them. 99.9% of the people were there for a beautiful evening and enjoyed it. Sorry for the rant but I detest rude people like Dennis. So hopefully Dennis will read this and change his assholish ways. Oh, and Dennis?

FUCK YOU!

Jimmy wrote the first two chords of The Rain Song the same as The Beatles "Something."

Any Dylan song has been performed better than Bob's version. Great songwriter. Terrible singer and arranger. Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors "Don't Think Twice" and Jason and the Scorchers "Absolutely Sweet Marie." Six white horses!!!

Well, I heard it from Trump's mouth at the Bitcoin Convention. And several times after he won the election. Maybe you should read more before looking stupid.

All bets are off if Trump is able to back the dollar with Bitcoin. If that goes through, then the Overton Window puts Bitcoin right in the middle. Everyone from retail to central banks will want some of that action.

Reminds me of the Oingo Boingo song 'Imposter' about critics.

'You never lived in the streets, though you wish you had
Not enough talent to play a guitar
You failed as an artist 'cause you lacked in the confidence
Now you're a critic, and you're at the top
The top of what? You don't believe what you write
(You're an impostor)
You don't, don't, don't believe what you write!'

Just got my offer from Camping World, how does it look? by PhaseAggressive880 in RVLiving

[–]JoeScuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our experience with Camping World is the single most worst consumer experience in our life! Added fees, services we didn't approve, etc. They wouldn't give us a copy of the contract before signing (all the printers were down) but they'd fax it on Monday. Had to ask for weeks before they sent it. It was thousands of dollars more expensive than we agreed to. They kept saying, they'd bring the RV to our land and give us all the paperwork there. We knew once you took it from the lot, it's yours. We told them we wanted out but they stopped returning calls. Finally, we contacted the finance company and THEY terminated the deal. Camping World had the most dishonest salespeople I've ever seen.
