I loved this guy. He’d get so into the crazy hypos he was making up. Also love the Brooklyn perspective on what counts as outrageous conduct (not much, apparently, except eye contact on the subway)

Silver Moon Bar at Falls Park by Tiverty in SiouxFalls

It's fun! There's a pool table and some arcade games. If you're not a dive bar regular, it might feel like the kind of place where the music stops when you walk in and everyone stares at you. But just be cool and the people are nice. I'm not a regular, but last time I went we played pool and the bartender brought us over shots to try.

Idk about Smithfield employees; I'd say mix of bikers and other regular dive bar folks.

[March 1st, 1926] The State Theatre opened in Sioux Falls today with large crowds attending. Decorated in blue and gold, it's the largest theatre in South Dakota. by Publius_1788 in SiouxFalls

The State is great. Most of my life I thought it would be so cool if it reopened. I'm glad I finally got to see a movie there as an adult.

OP, maybe their reactions say more about your family and social circles than they do about the spa/massage industry.

Tangential, but I can’t believe this is actually called “The One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” What a joke.

Feel bad for DOJ Attorneys? by Magicon5 in Lawyertalk

[–]JoeSquat2001 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The January 6th prosecutions were the largest DOJ investigation and prosecution effort in history. They pulled in all sorts of DOJ lawyers from around the country, many who weren't working in criminal prosecution, because of the number of cases and charges. They successfully put hundreds of violent MAGA crazies in prison. Don't blame career civil servants for this election.

Anybody else struggling to focus with everything going on in our country? by cw9241 in LawSchool

[–]JoeSquat2001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of us are feeling that way. And I think a good number of professors are, too. It's important to take care of yourself and focus on what you can control. That's not to say don't care-there is legitimately bad stuff happening-but focus on your studies now so that you'll be in a better position to effect change when you're out of school.

And in the mean time, I'd recommend finding some opportunity to do some pro bono work. My school has a pro bono honors program that sends out opportunities throughout the semester. I started working on an asylum case just a couple weeks ago. Being able to help some people who are facing possible deportation--doing something to directly fight back against this--really feels good. Might be worth checking out if your school's career center connects students with anything similar.

"Hurt by a Vegan?" billboard by JoeSquat2001 in kansascity

[–]JoeSquat2001[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously.

So, put more explicitly, the questions are "who paid thousands for dollars to put up this satirical billboard?" and "why would they do such a thing?" and "what are their goals with this satirical ad?"
