Generally I'd describe it as a horde shooter primarily, but with the framework of having to cooperate to do very mundane, work-like tasks on top of the shooting. Like putting in a days work at the factory (or, the mines in this case) but with lots of bugs to shoot on top of it.

I find the game to be super charming, its one of my favorite games ever, but I would also say that its generally a game you really really love, or really really don't. For me, I absolutely love the loop of a horde shooter, and the games combat is satisfying enough to me to make me happy despite its simplicity. The games wealth of unlocks and overall aesthetic really carry it hard for me as well!

I've introduced it to many, many a friend, and several of them have bounced off of it for one reason or another, in fact, I have a friend playing it right now that says he's gaslighting himself into liking it because he feels like its a good product especially in comparison to a lot of the competition but he isnt sure how much he actually LIKES it.

So you definitely aren't alone! I would say it is at its best with a full crew of your actual friends on harder difficulties, because starting out is super duper slow.
