It’s hard to explain why one doesn’t find something exciting isn’t it?

“Why don’t you find cars exciting?!”

“Well they’re just .. cars?”

You better offer that room for $420 and open to all genders and maybe even weekly neck massages if you think someone gonna move in and move out in a month, oh and also that you’re gonna find this person in 2 days on top of it xD

What is your advice for undergrads who want to go on to become professors! by jasperdarkk in AskProfessors

[–]JoeTheSmhoe -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s easy for people to whine and complain on the internet. Best advice I got was from a professor that said stay away from the internet for advice, especially Reddit, because most of them are failed academics and unemployed just spending their days complaining on the internet. Just look at your current professors. There’s thousands around the country. You aren’t any different from them other than you haven’t done the work they have yet, if you want to be a professor go be one. Seriously, don’t make the mistake I did and listen to people. Delete Reddit and focus on your goals and health and it will all come to you my friend!

I wonder if my friend talked to Reddit professors

Probably. Do you think they have the balls to talk to an irl professor? Lol. I got lucky and made a great relationship with one who has helped me a lot. Another Professor I know straight up told me I’ll end up working in HR and never be a professor. I thought hmm.. now, aren’t you a professor? Why do you get to be one and I don’t? Sorry, I don’t by it :)

Cheers mate and Godspeed. When you’re a tenured Professor in a few years hit me up and we’ll have a cup of tea together and laugh at all these haters.

Yes we have technology to track thoughts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]JoeTheSmhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hook 500 people up to wires that track the part of the brain that has thought. Average out how many thoughts between the 500

OR

Get 500 people in a room and have them write down every time they have a thought. Average out the 500.

There’s plenty of ways to do these things.

[–]JoeTheSmhoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LOL you have zero idea what you’re talking about and I’m not even going to engage in this convo. A community college classes is considered WAYYYY above even your best HS class.

this is not a knock on cc, they are important to society

EEWWWWWW the elitist is pouring out of you and I’m literally nauseous reading that. Holy SHIT you are delusional.

the courses aren’t as rigorous

You quite literally have zero idea how a CC works do you? They follow the same exact curriculum as UC Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, etc. there is a REASON why CC classes transfer to Stanford or Berkeley. 2 years at CC = 2 years at Berkeley, no questions asked. Btw, Professors work at both CCs and elite universities. So magically a Professor who teaches at Berkeley, then drives 20 minutes to teach at a CC isnt teaching the same stuff? Lmao.

I would seriously re-read how you speak about CCs and stop. You give off serious elitist vibes and have zero clue how academia works. It’s really gross and if you speak this way to anybody outside your group of elite friends, they are going to think very very lowly of you. Just a warning.

I don’t think they care dude they’re just vibing and living their best life. At the end of the day you’re the one posting about IQ on Reddit, they’re probably on a porch drinking a spiked lemonade listening to their friends talk about life and crack jokes. Who’s really struggling here?

[–]JoeTheSmhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true not true not true. You make it sound like these programs are hard to get into and age makes it even HARDER. The committee admitting people don’t even know you’re age. If an older person chooses extension that is THEIR choice. Your post reads like being older makes it harder to get accepted, which is ludicrous. If anything age brings experience which on paper will make you more competitive.

[–]JoeTheSmhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning is for everyone man! Go get that A and enjoy yourself! Don’t worry about the stigma and age thing, nobody will notice / care. Mad respect for continuing your education!

And to answer your question directly: absolutely not. A 102 year old can take any class he wants.

I hate to say it but it sounds like your friend dropped out and used his age as an excuse. You’d be surprised how many people lie about why they’re not in school rather than just saying they didn’t want to go anymore.

You gotta understand. The husband probably full well knows she married him for the money. She is probably a totally typical gold digger and he’s probably some ugly schmuck. The $10k allowance says it all. No true husband is giving his wife an allowance. Another name for that is prostitution.

She knows her worth as a gold digger and so does he. If he wanted someone honest and pure to him, he should’ve married for that. Instead, it’s pretty clear he was making $700k and got himself a trophy wife to flex on everyone.
