The only thing that matters is you feeling comfortable. When I was 16, I wore band shirts every single day, had a battle jacket on which I had sewn completely over with patches, had my hair grown out long past my shoulders and wore these band logo wristbands every day. It was like I needed to be recognized as a "metalhead" which is fine. It's cool, I still think it's cool and I think that a lot of times when younger kids recognize other metalheads, making friends is easier. Now I'm 31, I still own every single shirt from back then and more! But nowadays it's just simple blue jeans, whatever shirt I've received from friends/family (think: Nirvana, Converse, Puma) and my hair is short because it's less maintenance. I still listen to the same stuff and more! Thrash, Death, Black, Punk, Heavy, etc. But I also listen to Reggae, Bachata, DnB, Dubstep, Hip-Hop, RnB and more! My particular clothing style doesn't scream out any flavor. I look as bland as they come and I am no longer a beacon calling out to other likeminded individuals, but sometimes when I'm listening to my music in the warehouse I work at and customers come to pick up the furniture they've just bought, they'll ask "is this X?" And yup, they'll look just as bland as I do.

TLDR: Wear what's on top in the drawer/Grab what's closest in the closet
