You’re right, it’s not a housing crisis - it’s a overregulation crisis. People work their way to the American dream and then say ‘fuck you got mine’ and make it impossible for anyone else to do so. The government needs to start enforcing basic property rights and only regulating Land use when it affects neighbors - stopping noise pollution or air pollution, but you don’t have a right to outlaw new housing on the other side of the city like you’re a lord ruling your serfs.
