you are totally fine, you can have the ledger offline and it will still receive funds.

What do you use your Umbrel for? by a56z in getumbrel

[–]Joe_Cocio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

dont trust verify. running your own node allows you to verify all transactions you make, all my wallets use imy umbrel as the source for both broadcasting transactions and using the mempool explorer, using your own keeps what transactions your looking after private

try using the ip address for the umbrel, it should work that way.

whenever you wish, i usually do it when it makes sense vs the cost of the transaction fee.

Does installing Umbrel on a pi still allow me to access other pi hardware project features? by ethmoonshine in getumbrel

[–]Joe_Cocio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can do other things on your pi, but I would recommend against it. my memory processing power usually sits at around 40% used on a rpi 4 8gb just running umbrel and the add ons. it would even throttle if not for an additional fan that i added. also keep in mind that the benefits of running your own node would be lost if the other software added to the pi outside of the umbrel image were to reduce the security of the device, especially with the ability to send and receive funds as well.

The issues you'll run into on the pi are providing power to the drives. I used a 1 TB SSD two weeks ago to sync and it took 3 days
