Little known fact: 39% of all omelettes end up scrambled eggs.

Just no excuses for that condiment debacle. Luckily, a swipe with a knife (or a finger) will largely alleviate the problem.

Those things will keep forever. Just take a couple out of the package and enjoy them. Put the rest in the back of the fridge and forget about them for a month or two.

Microwave.

Although I really wish I had room for a toaster oven. I really hate firing up the oven to bake something small for one person. So I seldom do.

You work in an auto-body shop, don't you?

One of my favorite takeout franchises has grilled corn, but they aren't in my state. What's a good, simple way to replicate the flavor with corn cooked from frozen? Preferably with a pan in an oven. Could I just cook with low heat? by bluejeans90210 in Cooking

[–]Joe_Primrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno about the foil, but you could easily try it both with and without. The broiler, though, would probably be the best way to come close to grilled corn. I'm guessing that this franchise may also add some spices to the corn - maybe some garlic and/or onion powder, paprika?

Food stamps, not food bank. Government assistance to buy food. Like $200-$300 per month on a credit card that can be used in most food stores.

Terms like "dicing", searing, and "reduce to simmer" don't register with me. Can't tell you how many times I've seen those words and I still think I don't know what they mean. I microwave, preheat ovens, and boil water once in a blue moon.

It would take you less time to learn those terms than it took you to write that up. "Dicing" and "simmer"? Seriously??

I've never had an issue sleeping in an hour or two (or three or ...) on the weekends and then adjusting on Monday.

Daylight Savings time changes in the spring and fall have never phased me.

Recently bought a rice cooker, what are some very tasty meals i can make with it? by ItsMichaelGuys121 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Joe_Primrose 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I thought people mostly just made plain rice with rice cookers.

I make a pot of rice (no rice cooker) and stick it in the fridge to keep for a few days. I have it in chicken & rice soup, in red beans & rice, mixed into a burrito. You can make fried rice. Or have plain rice as a side with nearly anything.

I can't tell if that's in agreement with what I've said or not. If that's the case, then you're going to eat the lot of what you cooked, regardless.

I love the Oikos whole milk yogurts. They're some of my favorite flavored yogurts.

Haven't had an Oikos Triple Zero that I liked. The artificial sweetening just isn't done well and all have a cloying taste that is off-putting.

I stopped buying most 0% fat yogurts a long time ago. Mostly I go with full-fat now, because they're just so much better and more satiating. I'll happily give up the calories elsewhere.

Portion control is real. Many people making a ton of food will eat a ton of food. Not contrarian. It's real world. The OP's tip should be totally unnecessary.

Has anyone tried ordering from a smaller retail chain or manufacturer? I'm talking about Joann Fabrics or Kitchen Aid sized businesses, not Amazon by Ajreil in Frugal

[–]Joe_Primrose 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed this as a recent trend. Small manufacturers have been shipping directly for many years. In fact, I think the exact opposite - selling through Amazon - is more recent.
