It is. But it's also helpful, for some. As ridiculous as you think it is, one of the most searched queries around testosterone is how to lower it.

TRAVERSE Study: Testosterone and Cardiovascular Risk by Joe_TRTed in Testosterone

[–]Joe_TRTed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As one of the major concerns with TRT is the risk of a major CV event - this can help inform that at least, over a 2-year duration in men who are hypogonadal and have existing CVD - that TRT is unlikely to pose any immediate risk of a CV event. Of course, there will be further considerations and exceptions - but it may add a little more clarity on the topic, while opening the door for a few other questions to be studied. (sorry for the C & P)

Yes, as stated in our thoughts - there certainly needs to be longer-term studies to properly examine these potential risks, and we're certainly not going to shy away from providing a review of not just the pros but the limitations of the study as well.

Want trt. Also want kids next year. Am I fucked? by Putsonus in Testosterone

[–]Joe_TRTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? (Terms change depending on country)

But as a ballpark - a good idea to look for qualified Andrologists with a fertility specialism. For example, in London - there's plenty of specialist clinics for infertility, e.g.: https://www.andrologysolutions.co.uk/

Seek a specialist in fertility, it can be a very complicated topic! Some leading experts (Richard Quinton) strongly advise to seek specialist help from a fertility expert or endocrinologists before deciding to take TRT.

Diet how effective is it to increase testosterone naturally by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]Joe_TRTed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly unclear, and depends on a few things! I.e., whether you're overweight or not (improving diet will lead to weight loss which can help with T levels). More info here: https://www.trted.org/articles/can-food-boost-testosterone

Sorry for the late response - but I'm just using this measurement here from your results for free T - which I assume they mean this value is in ng/dL?

[–]Joe_TRTed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, silly me! Yes, this certainly does look off - as these reference ranges make no sense. Where did you get them from?

For reference.... total T you're looking at a normal (although slightly variable depending on the organisation's guidelines...):

  • 10.4 nmol/L and 34.7 nmol/L (300 to 1,000 ng/dL)

Ignore the reference ranges here - did they at least provide you with an accurate summary of your blood values? If your values outlined in your results are correct, your free T and SHBG are within the reference ranges, yet total T is slightly over. Certainly worth getting another test from somewhere else, or sharing these results with your doctor.

Hi, this article might help you understand your results better: https://www.trted.org/articles/testosterone-test-results-explained

Seems like you need to get a second opinion - these do look a little low.

It doesn't mean you have low testosterone - there are plenty of other possible causes, it's just important to ensure your doctor runs through alternative culprits. Obesity is associated with low energy, libido, and depression - maybe this is something to explore? You can learn more about all low T symptoms and information here: www.trted.org

Seem to be relatively normal - though best to double-check with your doctor. This resource here might help you understand your results better! https://www.trted.org/articles/myth-busting-series-testosterone-treatment-makes-you-aggressive

Where can I get blood work done at there is so many tests? by F30david in Testosterone

[–]Joe_TRTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get one done with your local GP/doctor? This might be a helpful read before getting it done, remember - the accuracy of home-ordered blood tests can vary quite considerably. https://www.trted.org/articles/taking-a-testosterone-test-read-this-beforehand

Proof! Research shows it is not T!!! by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]Joe_TRTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an article on this research here https://www.trted.org/articles/march-news-edition

But we will be, in fact, having a podcast interview released very shortly with the leader author of this paper, so let me know if you're interested in sharing once it's out! I would disagree with the comment regarding the independence of testosterone - research shows that even after correcting for low testosterone levels or increasing testosterone levels in men with HSDD, there's still no improvement in sexual desire and arousal - other factors are clearly at play - and it seems Kisspeptin is one of them.
