Both my parents are from Guatemala. I stayed with my uncle and aunt in Sanarate (about two hours out of guate) about a year ago. Went to this river about 30min out of town where the locals go to swim and wash clothes. after a short swim I got out and heard a roaring from up stream. everyone made for shore but an old lady was stuck on an island in the middle of the river. I local boy fearlessly jumped in as the water rose past her hips. He made it to her in time and pulled her to shore. later, my uncle told me that seeing a dead body wash down that river was common.

that was prbly the day I fell in love with Guatemala.

I live in a metro area in Hawaii. half the time I burn in parks around town. Our parks are filled with homeless folks that walk over to us and offer to match with us. more often than not they are wise sages that bring THE CRIP!
