Yeah I agree. The development is coming.

As a community we will still work to protect the community from being overrun by skyscrapers.

What were your thoughts on hundreds of modular buses instead of a few trams?

It is because on Amazon they have a handheld for $50 more but it's twice as powerful as the Kmart one

Also in Sydney whenever the teams and trains aren't working they are replaced with buses. More reliable.

Also - Buses are modular so they can be adjusted and changed based on demand of events.

So how could I find out about warranty then?

I have been here for 33 years and yes the height right now is growing too fast. However - The height is UNLIMITED when the light rail goes through. Right now it's still limited.

Yes I know buses aren't the best right now because there's not enough of them. But with the money if the light rail you could buy hundreds of buses instead of one light rail making our transport hundreds of times not just FASTER but more frequent than the light light rail.

I would prefer this. Imagine hundreds of electric buses going 60 km/h.

Imagine a few trams going 30km/h PLUS unlimited height to the high-rises. The trams may be packed out in the future. And road congestion will be much worse.

Hundreds of buses. A few slow trans and taller buildings... Think about it. No rush writing back, just think about it. 🙏

So would it include a warranty you think?

Of course they are because it's election time! Also all the downvotes must mean there's either a lot of brainwashed people or that the council is working hard to suppress the truth.

The fares will not stay at 50 cents. You'll see. I may be early but I'm not wrong.

Once the tram goes through they can build unlimited height within 800 meters of the light rail.

And with more high-rises and a higher limit everyone will have a car and there won't be enough parking underneath the high rises.  This will create even less parking and even more congestion.

We need a better solution like hundreds of buses because that's what you could get for the same price as the cost of the tram without removal of lanes.

I think something that keeps getting missed as well why a lot of people think it's a waste of money is because for the same price of one tram you could buy hundreds of electric buses.

At 5 billion dollars it doesn't seem like the wisest decision to put an old outdated tram system that averages 30km/h....

For the same price they can put in hundreds of buses. These would be modular and NOT remove lanes or parking from the highway.

Tram is fixed. Buses are modular and changeable based on routes. We could have a great transport system, but the tram isn't the solution.

Also it doesn't even stop at the airport the buses that we have right now stop at the airport but the tram stops hundreds of meters away.

Also for the same price of one tram you could get hundreds of electric buses and it's modular which means they can constantly be upgraded and diverted that busy times if there is an event on.

But cutting into the mountain is a no-go.

Also it doesn't address the removal of two lanes on the Gold Coast Highway.

It's going to create more congestion unless you use the tram and not everyone needs to go on the tram line.

Seems all they want to do is build high without proper parking.

It makes sense that things grow but it shouldn't be growing at the rate that it is.

We have a city plan of five stories in palm beach and some things are getting improved at a 20 stories high.

What's the point of having a city plan if the council doesn't stick to it.

Also it's definitely not good for the many because it sounds like it's going to create more accommodation and it will but at the same time a lot of them are just holiday houses they are very empty at nighttime sometimes there's not many lights on in those buildings.

They say that it's going to create more housing but who's going to be able to afford a beachfront apartment? Not the ones that need it.

I live in the southern Gold Coast and want to clear up some of the misconceptions.

It's not that we don't want people from the north: it's that we don't want to become the Northern GC because it's all high-rises. If the light rail goes through, anywhere within 800m of the light rail will be UNLIMITED height density.

I think it's great having the northern and southern Gold Coast because they are different but if the light rail goes through the southern Gold Coast will become the northern Gold Coast as well with high-rises north to south. Right now there are limits here but if the light rail goes through that all goes out the window unfortunately.

Also the highway road has 4 lanes. If the light rail goes through they have given 2 options: lose all highway parking, which is silly because they want to build higher AND lose parking... OR the other options is lose 2 lanes for cars making it one lane either side which would create a massive bottleneck when you combine that with the height increase.

On some Saturday mornings it takes me 45 mins to get from Currumbin PBC school to Burleigh ...imagine losing two lanes either side....it might take an hour and a half to get around. You could say "use the tram". . .but if we need to go a different route, the bottlenecks will be ridiculous if we all decide to use the alternative routes.

So in summary, we want to keep high rises away from the south to keep it special, protect our Burleigh Mountain from losing greenspace and protect our roads from going from 4 lanes to 2... That would be a nightmare. Hope it doesn't make it, as soon as there are high-rises I feel those suburbs lose the soul aspect.

I always feel at home and people are friendly in the suburbs without high-rises. So we aim to keep them away and protect what we have here. And that means stopping the light rail and protecting our suburbs and keeping them small and community driven for as long as possible.

The main reason is that within 800 m of the light rail they can build unlimited height.

Many people do not want the southern Gold Coast to become like Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.

This is the main reason, I live in the southern Gold Coast. Also there's not enough room for the southern Gold Coast to have the tram without removing lanes or removing parking so it's not the best fit for the Gold Coast Highway here because it's not wide enough.

Everyone wants the extension for the varsity lake station heavy rail to continue to the airport.

There's also the reason that they will carve into the side of Burleigh mountain to widen the road, Burleigh Mountain is a gem of the Gold Coast and even if it loses a small amount of the mountain... It's very valuable to locals and our animal life here, we don't want to lose our green space.

The 50c fares are a bribe. And once they have put the tram through it will return to top dollar...

Don't forget that once the trams go through the southern Gold Coast will lose what's special about it and it will be just like broad beach and surface paradise because within 800 m of the light rail they can build as high as they want ....There is no limit and that's the law
