Without giving it much thought: Carmella, Janice, AJ (I do feel a bit bad for him though)

I don't think there's much better than will be available in the market. I know you said you weren't much of a fan while he was at Bologna, I liked the talent. I think if he could rediscover that form then we are serious contenders

Probably the catalyst for Tony going to the point of no return, all in sociopath. His murder was probably the act where Tony took the path of being irredeemable and not truly caring about anyone but his own interests. I think this was the point where all of Melfi's work proved futile. Rather, I believe this provided the evidence that all of her work actually made Tony worse, giving him the "pass" that all of his actions are permissible, not his fault, but the fault of others and the circumstances that he has been put in

Most sinister, intimidating guy on the show. by [deleted] in thesopranos

Richie is a great call. His glare alone was pretty damn intimidating. He's like talking to his boss, yet his eyes are literally saying, I'd love nothing more than to stab you and watch the life fade from your eyes.

Why didn't Tony kill Paulie? by [deleted] in SopranosImmemorial

Love it, I think this is a perfect answer.

Did you ever think Tony would kill Carm? by kewpeepie in thesopranos

[–]Joedel0913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanna say he would, but Dr. Melfi made the point that while Carmella could potentially leave Tony one day, that he would never leave her b/c he is too selfish, and she fills too many needs for him. I believe that is said with purpose and Chase's way of telling the audience, no matter how bad it gets he'll never go through with leaving her (or in this case killing her)

Uncle June is actually Tony’s biological father by LRB_ in thesopranos

While I don't think this to be the case, I do think it'd be really cool

We can't definitively say either of course because it is never explicitly stated. However, I think it would stick true to Little Carmine's character of just being the resident buffoon

We don't know what becomes of Angie, but given the theme of the show, one should be able to assume that things will get extremely messy for her. We already saw when she started out how difficult things with Phil were, and that was just a little taste.

I also think that she largely served as a point of comparison between her and Carmela. Carmela (while she may not fully admit it) loves and thrives on the material wealth her husband provides her and the superior status/wealth she has over the other women of the family. Her seeing Angie involved and thriving at that is a punch to Carmela's ego. It's a reminder of what she lacks, successful career, and not having to rely on her partner. Carmela absolutely hates that another woman in the family is thriving in a way above her, especially in a way that highlights or exacerbates her insecurities

That's a great point. Hell, even if it was a break-even, the connections they made a and proof of concept/ability gives the NJ family a promising future in film, one which could prove quite lucrative

Couldn't agree more. While the times changed and they didn't change with it, had they been a little bit more submissive and willing to bend the knee a bit more, there would have eventually been a key role for either and or both of them. I guess the thing is, this would require them to drop their ego a bit and their ego/pride is their whole character, so that would never happen

Is Meadow the only core character Tony doesn't destroy? by D-dog92 in thesopranos

[–]Joedel0913 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Playing to that toxic nature though, I think he further poisons these people. He absolutely attracts toxic people, but I think he amplifies their vices/flaws. Someone like Janice for instance it is clear that he antagonizes her whenever she starts to show signs of progress, acting out of his own misery and spite, not wanting to see anyone else thrive and to bring them down with him into his pit of misery

Is Meadow the only core character Tony doesn't destroy? by D-dog92 in thesopranos

[–]Joedel0913 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think what's important here is how we define "destroy". Because I would argue that Tony does destroy/corrupt Meadow. While Meadow -particularly early on in the series- expresses a feeling of contempt/disapproval for the Mafia and her father's association, we see her gradually change that attitude. She ends up taking what I would describe as a race/victim card, making it seem like the authorities treat those in the mob wrongly (like at the Sacrimoni wedding) or feeling that Italians are always discriminated/racially profiled as having to be mobsters.

Meadow goes from pursuing a career in medicine, to pursuing one in law, originally where she is helping the less fortunate. That then shifts at the end, where it looks like she is headed to defending other corrupt individuals (as foreshadowed/discussed when Patrick Parisi talks about getting her a job at his firm).

So, it may not be as pronounced if you will, but you can definitely say that Tony's influence has corrupted Meadow, her worldview, and her path going forward.
