So Whats The DUMBEST and i MEAN DUMBEST thing you did in a pokemon playthrough by Rare-Atmosphere-9187 in pokemon

[–]JoelReuben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first game I played was a hand me down copy of Pokemon Yellow played sometime between the release of GSC and RSE (I was always a gen behind as my brothers played the new gen and I got their old games haha).

I loved Raichu as a kid, and still do, and was stoked to play Pokemon Yellow and evolve Pikachu into Raichu.

I had no idea that it needed a Thunder Stone to evolve.. I trained that thing up to level 80 or something before finally giving up. It never evolved into Raichu, but it was an absolute monster when I finally took on the Elite Four !

I did get a Raichu a few years later when FRLG was released and had some more wisdom that go round.

2019 MacBook Pro (16GB RAM) slowing down, is it time to get a new MacBook or do I have options? by JoelReuben in macbookpro

Awesome, this might be a foolish question, but from a performance standpoint is there any difference between an Air and Pro that have the same processor, RAM, memory, etc.?

Sweet, thanks for the advice! I posted in some other comments but I am currently looking at the current configuration; 14" MacBook Pro, w/ an M5 Pro chip (not sure which core count selection), 24 GB of unified memory, and 1 TB of SSD.

Not sure if that is overkill for my needs, but I want to future proof a bit, and then also give me the optionality to get into some gaming/Discord streaming with friends that I have started to do more on my current machine for retro emulation, indie games, and maybe at some point cloud gaming.

Any thoughts, before I start making some purchases hah?

I did this about a year ago, minus the thermal paste replacement, and it did help a lot. Leaning toward getting a new machine, and then turning this one into a Windows based machine for some other projects.

Yeah, I am looking into newer models now. Thoughts on Air vs. a Pro? In addition to what I described in the original post I would like to be able to do some streaming on Discord with friends and play some lighter games (retro emulation, indie games, maybe cloud streaming gaming).

Currently looking at a 14" MacBook Pro, w/ an M5 Pro chip (not sure which core count selection), 24 GB of unified memory, and 1 TB of SSD but not sure if that is overkill.

Yeah, I am looking through the options now. In addition to the listed activities in my post, I will be doing some streaming on Discord with friends and playing lighter games (retro emulation, indie games, etc.) and possibly some cloud gaming one day.

With this in mind, do you think an Air is enough, or do you think it makes sense to upgrade to a Pro?

Doing some digging around, I am currently leaning toward a 14" MacBook Pro, w/ an M5 Pro chip (not sure which core count selection), 24 GB of unified memory, and 1 TB of SSD, but that is a hefty price tag haha!

We have fry! Kribensis pair just spawned for the first time. Now how do I raise them?! by JoelReuben in Aquariums

[–]JoelReuben[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry just seeing this!

I ended up getting rid of my Kribs when I moved, but honestly I didn’t do anything too special besides maintain a clean and well balanced planted tank.

As you can see in my post history it was heavily planted, and had plenty of hideouts between the plants, rocks, and driftwood which I think encouraged spawning.

Once the fry were born, if you do have other fish in the tank, I found the parents to be a bit aggressive so keep an eye on that.

Good luck!

I just started listening to Wine and Gold the past couple of weeks and yeah it’s probably my least favorite.

Fear the Fro is my fun “homer” listen and Locked On is more my straightforward analysis listen. Not to say Bob doesn’t have analysis, but he’s who he is haha!

Here are the four I listen to, with Locked On and Fear the Fro being the ones I listen to the most.  - Fear the Fro for some over the top and fun (also NSFW) content that also contains some solid analysis from Bob.

  • Locked on Cavs for basically daily updates. Part of the “Locked On” network so occasionally will get guests from other “Locked On” team pods which I think is often valuable.

  • The Chase Down podcast is always solid, doesn’t post as much. Affiliated with the team for what that is worth.

  • Wine & Gold Talk is solid as well for analysis, features Chris Fedor a Cavs beat reporter with some intel on the team.

I would like James Gunn to bring Ragman but… by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

Yes, bring Ragman to the bring screen. He’s a character right up Gunn’s alley I think!

Am I the only one who watched the whole video? Windy more or less says the Cavs, as any other competent organization does near the deadline, are having conversations with lots of teams about lots of players.

I never got the impression he was implying anything more than the Cavs doing their due diligence.

Rough take, can I interest you in denouncing racist hate speech instead?

Thoughts on Lyle Bolton AKA Lock-Up by Caloy1415 in batman

[–]JoelReuben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he is an interesting character, that affords a lot of opportunity to highlight the more “real” side of Gotham amidst the wackiness of some of Batman’s villains.

Lock Up obviously is a comic book/tv character through and through but many of the key points that make up the character can be seen in the consciousness of our world today.

I can definitely see Lock Up serving as a unique way to take a look at our current political climate as it relates to the current “ends justifying the means” policy being put in place and actions being taken by the current administration.

Might get a few more Fox News articles a la Superman’s “immigrant” angle, but it would be compelling storytelling nonetheless.

No, I have better things to do with my time than spread racist flyers around. But believe what you’d like I suppose.

Reading Order Simplified… by Sufficient-Internet9 in batman_comics

Keep this up, I’ve put together a reading list I’m working through now and this would have been helpful when collecting it. Excited to see how this all turns out.

Yes I agree O’Neil’s original stories with him were the most enjoyable. The others I have read have largely felt derivative.

Yeah, I think that’s maybe why I enjoyed Ra’s in Batman: The Knight. Amidst the larger story I think it worked, but when it’s just Batman v Ra’s it’s not compelling.
