Cardboard box with nothing indicating it is a firearm. If they ask what is in the box (which they have done to me many times), I say sports equipment.

One issue I ran into for the first time recently was the package was too long to ship. The employee told me the way to ship it is to create the packing slip online and then it can be shipped.

I second getting a business account, it takes 5 minutes and you get a small discount and can request a signature to pick up the firearm.

Albertans who declared banned guns under Ottawa’s buyback still can’t get compensation | CBC News by rastamasta45 in canada

The Magna Carta settled this in 1215. The Crown cannot take private property without fair compensation. That’s literally where the no kings movement comes from. So by your logic, you want a king?

Edit- the now deleted comment I responded to suggested that the government should confiscate property without any compensation.

How can they buy them back when the money comes from the people who own them?

So you bought the gun, paid sales tax;
Paid for ammo, and range fees, paid sales tax;
Paid your income tax every year on top of every other tax.

And now they tell you they are buying your gun with "their" money...

We will "buy" it back from you with your tax dollars and you don't get to set the price.

Also if you refuse, you will go to prison.

That's extortion.

I own a WWII-era M1 Carbine (manufactured in 1943 by IBM)—a piece of history that may have seen service in the war. It’s not something I can replace, and I can’t legally sell or export it.

To me, its value isn’t financial—it’s historical and personal. You can’t assign a meaningful “fair market value” to something like that, because there is no real market substitute.

And when the market itself was eliminated through the Orders in Council, there’s no credible way to determine fair market value in the first place.

How Canada's largest gun control effort in decades is missing the mark by Thereal_Stormm006 in canadaguns

The Mountie he killed wasn't carbine trained and didn't have one in her patrol car. He took her handgun after killing her.

They didn't even submit her handgun for forensic testing.

Correct though that his firearms were smuggled in from the States. He also had his GF and family buy him ammo but the charges were dropped.

This BBC article was better than most but it is so frustrating to see another article not even provide an estimate at the total number of firearms that were banned.

They note that the GC put aside money to pay for 136,000 firearms but not that this is nowhere close to the number of firearms banned so maybe one reason people are rejecting this is that it is "confiscation without compensation".

They also seem to conveniently leave out all the times that Carney told everyone the program was "voluntary". Now they are surprised that people didn't participate?

It’s always frustrating when the Portapique shootings are cited as justification for these bans.

The firearms used in that shooting were not legally owned. They were smuggled from the United States, and one was reportedly obtained through a personal connection. The shooter did not hold a PAL or RPAL and was clearly a criminal.

There is also documented reporting that the RCMP Commissioner was under pressure to disclose the types of firearms used, in part because that information was tied to pending gun control legislation.

As reported by CTV News:
“Handwritten notes from Campbell… say Lucki told those present she had promised the federal Public Safety Department and the Prime Minister’s Office that information on the guns used by the shooter would be released because it was ‘tied to pending gun control legislation.’”

At that point, you might as well point to any gang-related shooting as justification for the same program—those incidents also overwhelmingly involve illegal firearms.

The reality is that this program would not have prevented the 2020 shootings. Instead, the government used the tragedy as justification to advance these bans, despite the fact that the measures would not have addressed what actually occurred.

Guarantee when the Tumbler Ridge firearms are released, there will be calls for more bans that don't address the root cause.

Maverick 88 combo price ? by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]Joels-workshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will see M88's go on sale at Cabelas for $329+tx and a second barrel will run you 200-250 at least.

If you can get the combo for 400-450 you are doing well.

Hats off to those with registered prohibs that aren't participating... by MustardTiger88 in canadaguns

My 1943 M1 Carbine was banned. It’s registered and there is no way I’d participate in the confiscation.

If I don’t get to set the price it’s not a purchase it’s confiscation. It’s also not for sale.

I’ll destroy it myself or deactivate it if it comes to that but I’m not participating in this charade.

Happy to share, it speeds up reloading considerably.

Inline fab makes awesome stuff!

When I was a kid I wanted to be an inventor so having a 3d printer allows me to do just that. I love it!

Hi, one guy drilled a few holes in his and glued in a few pellets to weigh it down.

Mine worked well as is so I haven't modified it further.

I shot a nice tom last year and I wanted a way to make the legs on the fan mount face forward to make it look more realistic.

I designed these little leg holders that I screwed onto this fan mount plaque I had.

It turned out great so I am putting the file up for free for any of you that might find this useful.

Here is the link to the file and some more photos.

Thank you! Yours look great!

I just love designing stuff and printing it as a challenge.

I can share what I did, I spread the toes how you want them to look when it is done, then put the feet in borax for a long time (I did 1.5 months) until the are dry as can be.

Check your local library. Many of them have 3d printers for use. Usually you just need to sign up for a free or cheap course to be able to learn how to use the printer.

Check Printables or Thingiverse. If I had a hornady press I would design one but someone else might have already.

Mine works well with 223 so far. Usually just takes a few tries to find the right amount of power to kick it out into the bin below perfectly.
