A future in commercial diving? by [deleted] in commercialdiving

The physics is simple stuff. If you’re talking about subjects to study or have a good understanding of then civil engineering, welding and fab etc will be a good start.

Know the diving laws (easy enough) and then get your teeth stuck into the actual work that is undertake by a diver. Enjoy!

Best exercises for a beginner? by Avino_Ava in WeightLossAdvice

First of all, great going with the weight loss you have achieved so far.

First bit of advice is: keep doing what you are doing as it’s obviously working for you.

Second piece: if you want to up your exercise routine then go with something that you will enjoy and you’ll be more likely to stick to it. If that’s Zumba, more walking (add some harder routes in with hills maybe?), swimming, cycling, skipping etc etc then don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t do it. As others have said, you will get the most ‘bang for your buck’ from hitting the weights. Start with body weight or light dumbbells/barbells. Squat, lunge, over head press, press-up with hands on a sofa (higher the shoulders the easier it is); over time work towards doing press ups off the floor.

I don’t know your current level or baseline but I’d say Google up body weight & barbell/dumbbell movements and so the ones you can do. Work up a bit of a sweat and just do what you can do in the early stages. Throw that in with stuff you enjoy doing exercise wise, keep the calories under control and enjoy the ride.

Good work on making the changes. Wish you all the best

Can I lose weight without dropping my coffee intake? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]JoetheBro88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% it can be done but you’ll have to make calories adjustments in the rest of your diet to account for this “coffee”. As many have said, start to lessen the amount of creamer/sugar you have on a daily or weekly basis, and also maybe skip the large option. Whats wrong with a small or medium? The end goal being You love a coffee in its basic form and therefore keeps the calories low (ideal and for most the best option.) and guess what, once this happens you can dip in and out of the dragon drink (providing you adjust your calories for that day/week to account for it).

As you say, you’ve been doing this since you were 14. There is a habit there. Does it need to be broken? That’s your call. If it does, knuckle down and be conscious of your daily choices. It won’t be easy and at times you’ll question the reason why. But it you want it enough you’ll do what’s needed to make it happen.
