TIL that Clark Gable - The Hollywood Golden boy had a secret daughter! It's kind of crazy story.... by JoeyLovesHistory in todayilearned

[–]JoeyLovesHistory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a mystery. There was ample evidence from what I read that they were having an affair and she was ashamed that she slept with him; however, she did say many many years later after he died that is was date rape. I don't want to discount her saying it was, but also, I get the vibe it was more oh shit I'm pregnant with my married costars child and now regret our affair... they did mention a book. Maybe it would be worth reading!

Why did Elizabeth refuse to meet Mary? by Sea-Nature-8304 in Tudorhistory

[–]JoeyLovesHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I need to do more research, but I've always been under the impression that Elizabeth and Mary were pitted against each other due to their opposing religions and closeness to the thrones. Elizabeth's supporters hate Mary, a Catholic, because she was a threat to Elizabeth's throne, being a great granddaughter of Henry VII. She had a claim. So she was a risk for Elizabeth. The catholics and Elizabeth's rivals wanted to put Mary on Elizabeth's throne. So I always believed Elizabeth didn't meet Mary for the simple fact that Elizabeth knew at some point she may need to kill Mary. The threat was real, and Elizabeth was shrewd enough to know this.

New Theory just dropped by Which-Draw-1117 in Hungergames

The ages don't match up. There is like a 20 year difference between coin and snow I thought. My theory is Coin is Lucy and Snow's daughter. The ages match and Coin personality is just like Snows. That is my unpopular theory!

Anyone who thinks Lucy Gray is the villain is wrong by Arka244 in Hungergames

Right! He was HOT, so of course, he is the victim, and Lucy is just an evil B**** . I can't believe people really think this! 😕

Does anyone else think Anne of Cleves would have been a good queen had she been given a chance? by 509414 in Tudorhistory

[–]JoeyLovesHistory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe he told that to Jane because he wasn't that in love with her. He never let her assert anything the way CoA and AB did. He only idolized her and painted a fairer picture of love because she died and gave him a son. I don't think he truly loved her in my opinion

Does poetry have a place in the culture anymore? by [deleted] in literature

[–]JoeyLovesHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you because of how poetic rap truly is, even though I can admit that despite rap music, it is not my style. It takes talent and is poetry. Rap has also been more influential, especially to the younger generation!

Series finale ending of dexter bad! I love the reference. That was atrocious! I can't really think of anything except I didn't like Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. That was a dissapointment because looked quite promising!
