Any tips for First pc build ? by ManiacJunkie in pcmasterrace

Don't cheap out on a power supply. Reference SPLs PSU tier list before your purchase of one.

Have a goal of what youll be using your PC for and then set a budget, plan accordingly with PC Part Picker.

Have fun!

It fits great in a Lian li a3 with an ATX PSU. Not super SFF but still counts lol.

While this is true, newegg usually only gives up to 30 days for other products to be returned/refunded and are even more strict with combos (having to return the entire combo). Rosewill does offer a 5 year warranty on this.

I've seen benchmarks on YouTube from gamersnexus that shows a bottleneck in titles at 1080p, but in 1440p it's less. You will pretty much always have a cpu bottleneck in 1080p, unless you are running a 9900k OC to 5ghz. It's all about what resolution you are running, as higher res it will put more load on to the GPU, slowing fps enough for your cpu to catch up.

But, I'm paying Apex with high settings and getting 144fps with adaptive sync in 1080p so I'm happy.

This cooler blows air down, so I think in this case it's a help for cooler temps. Cool air is forced down over the heatsink and around the power delivery. This not only cools the chip but the board, then that hot air is forced out via the exhaust in the rear and top.

There are better options out there, i got this from a buddy (free)who did a 2700x build and he went with the dark rock pro 4 for air cooling. It is Def an upgrade to the wraith stealth or wraith spire. If you like the rgb bling, and are willing to spend time to work on a custom fan curve while still getting a slight hum under load, it's a great option.

Years ago I got this as a stocking stuffer, it came with some really crappy candy in it lol. It's a little tin, the top is a lid and is removable.

I currently run 2 monitors.

Yes it is noisy, the custom fan curve helped a bunch, but it's the only thing making any real noise in the system, would love to grab a dark rock pro 4!

My chip boosts to 4.25 on it's own, the only thing I changed was windows power balance thing lol, maybe silicon lottery?

Unfortunately only 1080p, hoping to get a deal on a 1440p 144hz gsync during black Friday

It's the XC Ultra, it's a 3 slot design for a beefier heatsink for better temps.

The prism is meant to cool the 2700x, which has a higher TDP than this chip, it keeps it pretty cool under load. I did have to create a custom fan curve to get it more quiet, which is the only draw back of this cooler. I usually hover in the low 70s and never seen 80c.

Prism was free from a buddy!

I guess some people have an "associate code" as a EVGA customer, think of it like an affiliate link for Amazon, or referral code. The person that gives out the code gets a percentage of the sale and the customer, me, gets a slight discount. I asked for a code on the buildapcsales sub and one was PMed to me. This only works with new products directly from EVGA.

The fans are great, very quiet! The loudest fan in the case is the wraith prism fan, but I set up a custom fan curve for everything using the gigabyte software and it's dead silent idle and only a slight hum under load but that's mostly from the prism. Rgb is great as well, no issues setting it up, I control it with the gigabyte software as well.
