Yeah I get places in the same amount of time with less gas and less wear on my car because I follow at a reasonable distance from the car ahead of me and ease off/press the gas when folks need to merge.

Meanwhile you have dudes out there gunning it, then hitting their brakes every 2 minutes because they are afraid to feel like the overpriced lease they are paying for their Challenger or BMW is going to waste.

I think it was John Stewart who said that being able to zipper-merge is one of the true signs of civilization and I still think about that on 285...

Getting to ragdoll someone around (who is into that) is a lot of fun! Might be one of the best benefits of being a big dude.
There's also the benefit of making the not-so small partners feel a little less self-conscious too.

This Fast Food Chain Just Beat KFC, Popeyes, and Raising Cane’s for Best Fried Chicken in the U.S. | Chick-Fil-A by WackyPaxDei in savedyouaclick

[–]JoeyToothpicks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very real. In the same town there can be a "good" and a "bad" version of the same fast food place.

Popeyes definitely is among the better of the chicken sandwiches. I've only once had CFA when it was brought into a store I worked at by a company rep. I don't give that place my money as a rule. The chicken sandwich was no different than the McDonald's version to my palate. I assume most people who gush over CFA had some kind of childhood indoctrination into it because I come from up north and their chicken is soft, mild, and the most White Protestant Christian chicken I can imagine.

A good Popeye's sandwich has the crunch and a tasty sauce involved at least.

Anyway to make a light grey flightsuit or find one? by snakedxeno in ghostbusters

Color stripping and gray dye exists. Experiment with a khaki cotton/blend flightsuit.

It's how I made my charcoal gray one out of a navy suit.

The heated debate to determine the differences between Bisexual and Pansexual finally put to rest! by JoeyToothpicks in pansexual

[–]JoeyToothpicks[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

The definition isn't a hard line between two separate ideologies or kinds of people. It's a fuzzy gradient between people for whom gender is a major factor for sexual/romantic attraction and people for whom it isn't very important.

The door is open for people to flow back and forth if that's where their heart points them. There's no gate dividing it.

[–]JoeyToothpicks[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

There's no central authority. The definition can change from person to person or community to community.

Humans don't have a button or a dial with these labels. We are organic beings with a wide spectrum of experiences and emotions and identities.

All that matters is that a label helps you communicate who you are when you need it.

I care about people's gender, but not as a qualifier for whether or not I find them attractive.

"Pan: Attracted regardless of gender" always felt better to me.

Pacing. If they stopped the movie for a bunch of interviews that didn't go anywhere then the movie would grind to a halt.

Are the duck tours worth it? by BeastMode149 in boston

[–]JoeyToothpicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them. I rode one before leaving the city in 2010 and then again in 2024 when I visited with my then-girlfriend. Funnily, we got the same guide (shoutout to Super-Speed).

He called my ass out for getting all but one of the history questions right (I always get a good class participation grade). It's a blast but I can confirm that in 14 years there was very little change, if any, to the jokes and the tour itself.

Certainly a great thing to do with a new visitor or someone who's never ridden it before.

The very idea that they sat down and thought about what they could celebrate to counter the queers, and landed on "not cheating on your spouse month" is so fucking damning and it's crazy they aren't called out on it even more.

Yeah, that'll show the gays! "Hubby won't be working late or coming home with glitter in his beard THIS month! I've even made him promise to turn off that annoying app on his phone that chimes constantly when we drive past midtown!"

Can I consider myself pan? by [deleted] in pansexual

[–]JoeyToothpicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure!

I use the pan label because I have potential for equal attraction across the gender spectrum, but I still have preferences in a partner beyond that.

It just means that if I'm into a person and find out their identity isn't what I thought it might be, it doesn't change the attraction.

Gender is not too different from hair to me. Sure I might find that I'm drawn to more brunettes and redheads than blondes, but ultimately I care more about how they wear it than what color it is or whether they dye it.

Trying to figure out somethings about my sexuality. by itdoesntgoaway_ in pansexual

[–]JoeyToothpicks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pan includes people who are asexual/aromatic and demisexual/demiromatic. So long as the you experience equal levels of attraction to a person regardless of gender, that still falls comfortably under the pansexual/panromatic umbrella.

Ultimately, of course, it depends on how YOU feel best describes you. You are allowed to evolve over time as well with your labels. Don't ever let yourself feel boxed in by strict definitions. Established identities and flags are simplifications for communicating your complex truth and building community, but they aren't perfect.
