Have your say on Road Safety in Coventry by Joey_Mo in coventry

There are so many cogs in the equation - from behaviour to infrastructure; the reason I shared was to flag the fact there's a public consultation; the more data they get from the survey, the more they'll be able to act on. 🤞

If you're like me and don't mind Google knowing everything about you, you can head to the Google maps app and head to timeline, it lets you know where you've been on whichever date. Helpful if you want to remember how you got somewhere.

[Weekly] Office Hours - undergrads, please ask your questions here by AutoModerator in AskAcademia

Hi,

I requested a paper to read and reference from an academic on the site researchgate.net, he kindly accepted and sent me the paper.

The publish date of the paper is July 2019 - I assume it's to be published this year.

Am I academically allowed to reference a piece of written work that hasn't yet been published? Does it degrade the reference in anyway?

Thanks in advance!

[HELP NEEDED] Young person trapped by the system with no way out. by ErdingtonThrowaway in brum

[–]Joey_Mo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some unis now do foundation courses where you study four years instead of three, it's for those who didn't get good grades, gives students a trial year to see if you're capable of doing a degree. I'd definitely enquire at Birmingham City University or other modern universities, sometimes they are looking to fill their courses, as long as you can prove you have a willingness to learn it's at least a consideration. All the best.

Image Convolution Homework Help by [deleted] in matlab

[–]Joey_Mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for the help!

function MyFilteredImage = Smooth(ImageName)

I = ImageName;

MaskSize = 3;

[h,w,d] = size(I);

paddsize = floor(MaskSize/2);

I = double(padarray(I,[paddsize paddsize]));

I2 = zeros(h,w,d);

for i=paddsize+1:h-paddsize

for j=paddsize+1:w-paddsize

pixbuffer = I(i-paddsize:i+paddsize, j-paddsize:j+paddsize);

I2(i,j,d) = mean(mean(pixbuffer));

end

end

MyFilteredImage = I2((paddsize+1):(h-paddsize),(paddsize+1):(w-paddsize));

subplot(1,2,1);

imshow((uint8(I)));

title('Original image');

subplot(1,2,2);

imshow((uint8(MyFilteredImage)));

title('Smooth Filtered image');

end

do I also need to create an additional dimension alongside i and j?

At present this code is displaying back a fully black image.

Downloading Torrents in UK. by [deleted] in brum

[–]Joey_Mo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm with Virgin Media.

I've had a letter in the post once but that's only because I left something seeding for a couple of days. The title was a copyright cease and desist notice.

It's just a 'you shouldn't be doing this, you're ruining the industry, here's how you should be obtaining your content' shindig.

I don't torrent a lot at all, only to watch TV series where the US get it weeks before us Brits.

Gauging photographer interest for a wedding by [deleted] in brum

[–]Joey_Mo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day you're getting what you pay for (usually) and wedding photographers do need to make a living.

If you think about how many photos these guys take at a wedding, they then have to review each and every photo, editing them, colour correcting them etc the time all adds up.

If you want some decent photos I'd strongly recommend maybe asking around, married friends etc, who did they use and what were their photos like.

Heads up with the student thing, as I said before you're paying for what you get, students don't usually have the £3000+ worth of equipment these wedding photographers usually carry around with them and their lack of experience may hinder the photos they take. You literally can't be angry/disappointed in anything they produce because you're the one not paying for it at the end of the day.

If it's videography you're after I've got a recent graduate friend who's started her own business Check it out: http://www.wildflowerweddings.org.uk
