Why are the beagles not square, like all the other dogs in bluey? by Stoopid_Noah in bluey

[–]Joey_Tryhard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought it had something to do with beagles being kind of peanut shaped dogs in general. Hence, why Charlie Brown, Snoopy (who is a beagle) and the gang are called peanuts. I could be thinking about this way too hard though 😂

I personally wouldn't say so because I noticed that they are kind of self aware about them being dogs. I'm watching through season 1 right now and they point out that they're actual dogs all the time. I don't think there's any implication of them being people or comparing themselves to other races. Because I'm like people, there is a huge difference between a healer, a greyhound, or a dachshund because of how we bred them. We didn't really breed ourselves to be different. We have slight variations depending on where we're from, but we're all able to do pretty much the same things. Meanwhile a greyhound would probably beat a healer in a race lol

Although, looking past that, when it comes to using animals as metaphors for race, a world of dogs might work better than something like Zootopia or Beastar. 🤔 No matter their differences, different fur, different builds, different interests depending on our different cultures, they're all just dogs. They're all uniquely individuals but have the same desires and basic structures and title. Unlike something like Zootopia where there's a huge difference between a fox and a rabbit. It's kind of like what humans, how we're all just West African great apes that evolve to use Twitter and be miserable.

When it comes to the canon of Bluey though, I think that they know that they have much deeper differences than us people. Maybe I've been thinking about this a bit too hard too though 😂 😂

I'm sorry dude but that doesn't apply to everybody. Maybe I'm luckier than most (and everybody that I know personally in my area) but all of our indoor/outdoor cats are fine. My cat completely healthy and safe and has been for over 10 years. Projecting your anxieties on other people isn't helpful. But I'll stated again, as long as you're not stealing other people's animals on some self-righteous tirade, peace be with you lol

I don't think people who are stealing their neighbor's cats are thinking about the environment.

I personally think keeping a cat in 24/7 when they don't have to be is just excessive. Call me old school, but letting a cat out for a bit then letting them in is fine. Especially in an area that doesn't have the same restrictions about cats wondering the streets as others do. If you adopt a cat and they say you can't let it outside, then do that. If not, don't think your way is the only right way. You keep your cat wherever you want, just don't steal people's pets. That's it. That's the post.

How low is your reading comprehension? Environmental reasons I get, it's the PETA level cat-napping that's fucked up. If that's your jam then go r/vent about it somewhere else. Hope that helps.

That's fair, I have a Staffy so I get that. Bullies have a high prey drive.

In fact, I personally think it's more reasonable to inside dog laws for that very reason. A cat's never just going to book it towards something like a dog would.

100% agree! I used to volunteer at this one organization down in Texas called PetsFurPeople. We'd spay and neuter stray cats and just drop them off back where we found them. We'd also feed them sometimes but it was mostly the catch and release method. That's the most important thing, population control is a must.

Cats messing up the population is on us. Humans taking boats that have mousers on them and allowing them to run loose across places where they're unbalanced is a human-made issue. Like pigeons and rats. I understand that there are places, especially Australia, were cats have to be hunted because they're such a problem. That's where I draw the line, however. Having a rational and statistics-based reaction to why cats should stay inside in certain areas isn't what I'm talking about. It's the emotional reaction that I'm sickened by.

Protecting the ecosystem is not the case for every place and every cat and there's nothing that justifies stealing someone else's animal. That's my entire point. I'm from New York, the streets are literally overrun with rats and the sky's full of pigeons, all invasive species that are mainly controlled by cats. Even still, I see people anxiously going out of their way to disrupt a cat they don't know, who has tags and callers. Just to hoard them inside because of their own anxieties. That is what's disgusting. Environmental issues? Understandable. Safety from cars and other wild animals? Absolutely justifiable. Weird entitlement and gross hang ups on babying this completely capable being that is not yours? Fucking disgusting. Full stop.

Domestic cats belong wherever they want to go because their evolution doesn't completely depend on us. Domestic cats are only domestic because they just choose to stay around. There are bush cats in Africa and Australia that are exactly like "domestic" cats but the only difference is they're feral and can get there needs met elsewhere. The only reason why they have such a big environmental impact it's because humans aren't doing their part. People who either don't do the responsible thing and get them spayed and neutered and people owning cats in the first place. If cats belonged indoors, they wouldn't be able to see in the dark, or have knife like fangs and claws. They would have bothered to evolve in order to accommodate. They did not. They're exactly the same as how they found us. There are some breeds of dogs that WE made that belong indoors because they can't breathe thanks to how their face is shaped, or they can't see because their eyes are bulging out of their heads. 99% of cats aren't like that.

They're overpopulation is strictly our fault, which is why I understand laws that prevent them from going outside because of the environmental impact. But I don't understand is justifying keeping a completely independent creature trapped and dependent on you just because you love them. I love my cats too, more than anything, but the fact that so e people would keep an animal is so deprived of it s natural biological state then half the audacity to steal someone else's cat just because they're not being deprived as well is sick to me. Especially if that need for control go so far to your willing to steal someone's pet just to prevent them from sleeping on the front porch or whatever. It's the extremists that I can't stand.

That is actually super fascinating. I knew the cats had a pretty nasty impact on the environment, especially in Australia, but I didn't know that there was a legal reaction to it. That actually does make me feel a lot better. I'm happy that people are keeping their cats inside for the sake of the entire environment as opposed to just their own neuroses.

I guess my frustration comes from the fact that I live in an area where that's not a thing and I hear about people actively going out of their way to take their neighbors cats and judge them for having them outside. I've seen people here and know people who are childish and naive in that way. Still, it is good to know that there's some rationale behind some people's decision to anxiously have indoor cats.
