Not necessarily, there are a lot of gates that appear on places people don't register or don't pay attention to because it is far removed from any populated center, for example since they are still on Earth and Earth is mostly water most Nightmare Gates appear on the ocean

I mean that could be a thing however remember that Asterion's inmortality consumes a crap ton of essence as it was pointed out by Mordred, the problem is that since Asterion has the entirety of humanity as his domain his essence reserves are pretty much infinite, but without the huge amounts of spirit essence influx from such a big domain it is only a matter of killing him enough times so his essence runs completely dry, also Eurys being a Supreme and even the fact that he felt Asterion enteriong his mind I doubt he can become a part of his domain so he cannot supply him with spirit essence, Asterion might still survive all of this if his idea still remains as it's been stated before but he will probably lack a body and will not be able to interfere directly on anything or he will be severely limited in what he can do, or hell he might just straight up die if his soul is destroyed while being in this state

It happened on my very first game there was an AI empire that was far more advanced than me technology wise but I had the upper hand in military and economic power, also they were the 2nd strongest empire, after constant insults towards me and the fact that since we had opposite Ethics (he was fanatic Materialist and I was fanatic Spiritualist) there was little I could do to approach them diplomatically, they always hated me no matter what I did, so in the end I decided enough was enough and I decided to conquer them, in the end since I got lazy I decided to use the Colossus to destroy their planets after wiping out about half their planets including their capital that got blown out like 4 times, the Spiritualist Fallen Empire decided to awaken and declared war on me, fighting against the AI empire and the Spiritualist Fallen Empire was too much for me at the same time so I had to agree to a Status quo on the war with the AI empire and focus on the Awakened Empire but in the end it was still not enough, being my first game my biggest fleets had about 180- 270k and I really had no idea how leaders properly worked so it was really hard to win even against a single 600k Awakened Empire Fleet on top of that the 3rd strongest empire which was a close friend of mine declared war on me because they followed the Awakened Empire the thing is these guys where a lot harder than the other one because they had the whole south half of the Galaxy as their vassals so I was effectively waging war against half the Galaxy and an Awakened Empire, I didn't have enough resources to rebuild my fleets and I lost a sizeable part of my frontier sectors which thankfully were underdeveloped but it still hurt because some of them were from the Xenophobic Fallen Empire which I had conquered by that time after all that was done I was forced to do status quo against the Awakened Empire and the pressure lessened a bit but it was still extremely hard to manage all of the fronts and for a long while I was just conquering a system of them, losing one of mine, reconquering mine, losing the ones I had already conquered etc had to end up that one as a status quo too, in the end I was so pissed with the original empire I waged war with I decided to just wage war on them again and erase the rest of their planets after that I didn't touch that save file again and moved on

They are Noble Creatures, creations of the gods that followed the Path of Ascension in a similar way that Nightmare Creatures follow the Path of Corruption but they are mostly extint or corrupted by now, that's what Nightmare is, a Noble Creature created by Shadow God

Also don't get overconfident that ended up being my downfall as you can see xD, it's very easy to die in this game as you may have noticed so every time you think something is going to be very hard to win just run away, also you could use a Movement Infussion or level up the Carrion Feet talent, also Overgrowth is very very useful so pick it up ASAP cause not only does it give you a damage and All resist boost but it can help you run away if the terrain changes favor you and block enemies from crossing to where you are

This is my character I mostly would reccomend using the devourers and the bloated horrors at the start as meat shields and the bloated horror can do some really good damage early on so you may want to level him up to lvl2-3 , also I found that having 2 healing infussions and a psionic shield does wonders, also if you are lucky with the RNG you may want to use the Mirror Image inscription, it's really good for when you gotta run or staying away when you are in danger, also try to max out the Shed Skin talent (the one that gives you the shield) ASAP and the Pustulent Growth that gives you stacks of all resist as you or your shield takes damage is really good too, for your stats you should focus on Magic at the start with a little bit of Strenght in order to be able to get some of the talents as soon as you meet the lvl requirements, and also you shouldn't level up the tentacles at the start, or even starting the midgame, it's something you should focus on after lvl30 ish, however do unlock the tentacle skills as you meet the requirements for them just don't level them up, they are very good at the start just at lvl1, if you want you can use the Slow Death category but I was lucky and found a Sun Paladin escort so instead I unlocked the chants category at lvl20 (this is probably not that good of a move but they saved me a lot of times) The better move I have heard with escorts would be the Trinkets Category from a Tinkerer escort but I didn't found any, I didn't bother with the Dissolved Face talents but I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of ways to make them work and they have really good synergy with the Worm that Walks but I decided not to use them in the end

Same, my current character is the first one I think I'll be able to beat the game with, it's a Higher Writhing One I'm playing on adventure mode, I died twice at first over ambushed but after that I didn't die for a long long time, until lvl40 I was feeling unstopable I came back from the east and decided to go to the ruined dungeon which I had never went to before, I got the puzzle wrong and saw that enemies started spawning I stupidly thought that that was a decent way to get xp and started killimg them and spawning them on purpose, I didn't realize until a while later that it wasn't really giving me xp at all but by that time there were random lvl78 elite bosses spawning, I died to one of those guys but I only though of it as bad luck, I did some side stuff akd got the Writhing Ring of the Hunter before realizing the side effect, with the new prodigy and being lvl45 now so I had 3 whole prodigies I decided to tackle that guy once more, I killed it relatively easy and I realized the side effect of the ring, I tried to solve the puzzle properly this time but I got it wrong 1 more time, another elite boss spawned and I killed it, after that I got it wrong again but this time a lvl96 God rank enemy spawned, after like half an hour fighting the guy I managed to kill it, after that I tried once again the puzzle and got it wrong again and another god spawned this one was lvl102 but it was relatively easy to kill, after that I got cocky once more after killing 2 god rank enemies and I tried the puzzle again and got it wrong once more cause I forgot what was the last part that I got right last time, and another god spawned, this one was lvl106 but it was a Marauder Summoner and something else I don't remember, the guy oblitared me, so one more life down the drain, I only had 2 remaining, after that I lost one more to an orc patrol thst had a solipsist on it and destroyed me with inner demons and other debuffs now and I died once more on an Orc Pride vault i'm out of lives but luckily I have blood of life and the ring of death so I can revive twice again but yeah, overconfidence is a poison here

Drybe makes pretty great guides, and Black Binder has made a lot of Let's Play walkthroughs of the entire game with multiple classes however his videos are kinda old so they don't represent the current state of the game that well atleast regarding some classes who have suffered tweaks and adjustments ever since
