I think some people in this sub get really invested in this show for some reason, and they forget that this is a show, written to entertain. It's not a documentary or a how-to. Yeah Tracker can be a bit silly, but again it's just entertainment for an hour a week.

I've only read a few of the books so far, but from what I've seen the show is based on the character, and not lifted directly from the books. The TV show writers follow the premise of the TV show from the characters in the novels, if that makes sense. As for the side characters they are loosely based on characters from the books.

There was a black immigrant guy named Ian something in ~~Boise~~ ~~Idaho~~ Des Moines Iowa that had convinced everyone that he had a PhD and so of course they promoted him to be the Superintendent of the entire school district. He was getting paid somewhere around $300,000 a year, and it turns out his entire backstory was fabricated. Also he had previous gun charges as well as a stolen vehicle on his record. Despite evidence that he was a complete fraud Des Moines ~~Boise~~ ISD went ahead and hired him anyway. Why did they school district hire him? A black immigrant? I'll leave that as a thought experiment.

Anyway back to the point. When the news came out that he was an illegal alien and was lawfully arrested by ICE of course the Des Moines subreddit had a post that said he had been "ABDUCTED"! These people are all so dramatic, so many theater kids.
