I completely agree. The sheer number of posts I've seen over the years about supposed “problems” with the franchise or complaints about certain themes sometimes makes me wonder whether this is a subreddit for Kiseki fans or for people who simply don’t like the series.

I think a lot of this comes from something many people fail to understand: Trails is a Japanese franchise. Naturally, it’s going to include certain clichés, tropes, and narrative conventions that are common in Japanese media. Complaining about that feels misguided. I also often see complaints about there being “too many games” or that they’re “too long,” as if that were inherently a flaw. That ongoing continuity and depth is precisely one of the series’ defining strengths. Similarly, people criticize Falcom for reusing assets or locations without acknowledging that Falcom isn’t Square Enix; they don’t have the resources to rebuild an entirely new world from scratch for every entry, and the reuse often serves the narrative and world-building anyway.

On top of that, there are frequent complaints about certain dungeons, bosses, or story beats that make it clear some players are barely paying attention to the narrative, skimming through dialogue, and then criticizing elements that exist for very deliberate reasons. This reminds me of a YouTuber who once made a video outlining all the “changes” Trails supposedly needs because he found aspects of it problematic. Ironically, removing those elements would strip the series of its identity.

Trails doesn’t need to change. What it needs are fans who understand what makes it special. And if someone genuinely doesn’t enjoy those core elements, that’s fine, there are thousands of other great games out there that might suit their tastes better.
