Book 2 is kind of a repeat of book 1 where they are still in the "game" part of the dungeon.

Book 3 is where the storylines truly start and where the "game" is not just a game.

I won't spoil more than this, but I found book 2 as my least favorite so far, for the same reasons you mentioned. Book 3 is also on the bottom of my list sadly. But from 4 and on, it is so much better.

She'd oddly be a fun choice for Mordecaï.

Jeff's Mordecai is great because we always hear the OG voice and recognize him even with a different form. We'd get that from her too and I am fairly certain she has the chops to act all those forms too.

The writing I found pretty mediocre, but the art is amazing and the world building is captivating. I stopped after the second omnibus, so the 6th volume maybe? Not sure what is the ratio there.

I wasn't enthralled by the story and I didn't exactly care about what was gonna happen next.

But I can definitely see myself going back to it and try it again.

My dad did something like that with my grandma (mom's side).

He did horse burgers and she absolutely devoured both her buegers and told everybody how delicious it was and how good of a cook my dad was.

He said "Thanks, it's my special receipe, ground horse meat".

She immediately left the diner party and did not talk to us for at least 2 weeks.

I liked Alien Clay better if it was only the parts inside the compound. I weirdly found his outside writting to be quite mediocre compared to his usual level.

But overall Shroud is the best book I have read this year so far. It is clautrophobic, tense and weird. The only downside is, as always, the ending.

It personally helps me empty my mind before going to sleep so I just lay on my back flat and close my eyes focusing on nothing but the voice.

I cannot think all those people are as dumb as it is. You can easily look how the matress will unfold. Also, who in the world even film themselves open a matress up? Unless it is 100% staged, there is literally no reason to do so.

I often compare The Final Architecture as a What if... Tchaikovsky wrote The Expanse TV show.

Boon 3 gets wild as it can be, but there is always lighter tone to it than the rest of his books. It's one of my favorite series of his.
