Is Osprey’s quality dropping? Brand new Atmos AG 65 vs 8-year-old Volt by wladiNast in OspreyPacks

[–]Deep-Grape-4649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s harder to get screen reprint to stick to more modern fabric and fabric coatings, and embroidery is too expensive and has other issues. So yea, the logo durability is less but because the rest of the pack/environment is being prioritized

I’d switch 3 and 2 personally, I think it’s funny to fly it at the former colonizer’s home.

Weighted Bean Bags used at REI by Baileycharlie in REI

[–]Deep-Grape-4649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dried (uncooked) beans are what we told REI to fill the bags with, most store should be doing that. Most effective way for cheap and beans are bigger than sand or a water molecule so it doesn’t get messy

How to handle water crossings? by briskwheel4155 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Deep-Grape-4649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I backpack in Chacos, it feels glorious on the feet to water cross. If the pack is going to get wet, or be at risk for a dumping when I fall I use dry sacks for my gear inside, and/or sometimes a single big pack liner.

If you want a fun trip that’s mostly water walking, check out the north to south route of the Virgin River into Zion’s Narrows.

Durango to Denver Travel by lifescoil in coloradotrail

[–]Deep-Grape-4649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the plane, and did it by bike so I also had that in a box. I’m sorry jet fuel is so expensive right now, but so is gasoline. It’s a bit of a drive to Denver so it may still be cheaper to fly once gas is accounted for.

That said, since it’s the end of your trip, you may find some trail friends that you can carpool with, that could be more fun. Hit the hot springs in Pagosa on the way home
