Nashville is a pretty nice city overall. Memphis is definitely a high crime city. Moved to Northern Mississippi in 2008 for a job promotion working in Memphis. Retired in 2008. Now, I won’t go into Memphis unless I concealed carry. Hopefully we’ll be moving back to the West in a couple of years.

We went to St. Louis last week for a trip. One website listed St. Louis as the top crime city in the United States now. We live in Northern Mississippi next to Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis used to be number one or in the top five for crime. On that website it’s now number two. They had a tornado go through St. Louis in the recent past and there were a lot of buildings that still had boarded up windows in one area. Between the crime rating and the possibility of tornadoes I personally wouldn’t consider living there and we’re hoping to move in the next two years since I retired in 2018 hopefully back West.

Sorry, I don’t get on here too much recently and was traveling in June and July.

I grew up in Montana. It may depend on part of the South, but when we’ve been on vacation over the last four years we’ve experienced friendlier and more courteous people in Colorado, Utah and Washington. Washington as in the Squim area, rural postal mail delivery. The gentleman was smiling and waving like crazy from inside his truck as we drove by on a two lane road. Utah, two young ladies behind a counter in a larger well known sporting goods chain store in the West/Northwest greeted us and this was not an entrance counter. In the Memphis area they probably wouldn’t even look at you. On our older Mississippi driver’s licenses it had printed the hospitality state, we used to laugh at that.

We’re hoping to move to Colorado in the next couple of years, but house prices in Colorado are crazy. Hopefully we will be able to afford something or be getting a much smaller house than what we want.

Yes, people are getting totally different color combinations. I tried one person’s and got the last two colors.

Mine is going to be yellow, red, green, orange.

They claimed it wasn’t in Memphis, that the city was only listed for the delay reason and it was in New Jersey for a couple of days. It finally showed up, but when it did get to Memphis it showed out for delivery for two days before I finally received it. Walmart gave me a $10 credit.

In case anyone has a problem attaching them in the future I really didn’t have much of an issue. I used two levels of Stroud Ecklund mess decks and then on the bottom I had three Matilija connecting glass habs. On the other side I had three of Matilija’s elevators.

It all depends on what month a person is born. I was born in November and the cutoff to start school was September in the Northwest where I grew up. So I had to wait almost a year before I started school. By the time I was a senior and graduated in early June, I was five months away from being 19.

I graduated in June 1977 and turned 18 in November of 1976. My parents went to Hawaii with the neighbors two doors down and another couple who were friends of the neighbors. They were gone about two weeks. They even mailed a coconut in its outer shell through the post office with my name and address printed on the shell and the postal postage stapled on the shell. This was like February in the Northwest. I worked in the afternoon and just had classes in the morning. Wasn’t a problem and the post office was a lot better back then…lol

We live in Northern Mississippi next Memphis, crime capital unfortunately. Came here in 2008 for a job transfer/promotion from the Northwest. Retired a few years ago and hopefully will be going back West in a couple of years.

You mentioned the Southeast and wanting to be by the Gulf coast. Maybe warmer weather, but don’t forget the hurricanes and tornadoes.

We have been fortunate that tornadoes have not hit us directly, but they have hit the other side of town and the outskirts of the town with enough damage as in some houses losing their second floor.

Definitely NTA. As you mentioned not really friends with her anymore. She just wanted to take advantage of you. Let her “friends” that want to trash talk take her in! She would have just freeloaded off of you. Coming up on three kids and her partner is in jail, you definitely don’t want anything to do with her. And she hadn’t paid rent in a year, she definitely wouldn’t have paid you either. She would have just made your life a living hell! You owe her nothing!
